Interesting fact of the day. Lick Stamps In Moderation! Stamps offer around one tenth of a calorie when you lick them. Go sparingly! If that is true why was obesity less of a problem when Green Shield stamps were the reward for having a dreadful slow thirsty car? Should garages advertising triple Green Shield stamps have had more of a social conscience? never mind woke, non binary issues and the like; just think of the impact on your average Cortina, Cavalier or Montego driving reps wasteline!

Mum used to collect them for random tat! I worked with a guy who openly admitted he would risk running of our petrol to get to a garage offering triple Stamps! All good on the home front ta - hope you and yours are well ððĪ

Good news on the home front!
Had hoped to visit the Nene and more this year but sadly poor old G won't be able to cope with the riverside moorings. He's doing really well on his new meds so, fingers crossed, we might see/scare you all before too very long. Anyway, it seems they're all heading your way this summer so perhaps it's not such a bad thing we're turning back...

Green Shield stamps set up in 1958. Popular during the 60's and 70's stamps were suspended in 83 revived in 87 and finally stopped in 1991.

Spent many an hour licking and sticking them for my mum - didn't dream that was what was making us fat! But do you remember that hideous "crockery" they gave away in petrol stations just after they phased out the stamps? My Dad was a lorry driver and we had so, so much of it - and so did all of our neighbours and ...........

I remember there used to be a joke about a bloke who was taken to court for sticking Green Shield stamps in his National Insurance card. The magistrate gave him six months and an electric kettle.

(Esso ones) Probably one or two of the glasses as well, although they suffered a lot of casualties during barbecue season
