To be fair to them, if the now more prosperous lorry drivers had obtained their new found wealth by the government increasing the minimum wage by 50% they would be singing from the rooftops, hailing a great victory for socialism over neo-liberal economics. The fact that it's come about through market forces leaves them feeling highly conflicted. One hand is pleased that poorly paid people are getting a pay rise. That's what the Labour movement is all about, right? On the other though, their dogmatic belief that only government micro management can ever improve the lot of the lower paid has taken a bit of a hit.
I expect them to take a sabbatical for a while before coming back for further rounds of denial.

I've never whinged and whined about market forces, look to Mr Stabby for that re the recruitment of EU drivers. Market forces in action, now it's swinging the other way. Fewer beer tokens in Eddie Stobarts pocket, aw shame!

Fewer beer tokens in Eddie Stobarts pocket, aw shame! The market force in question, the one that's resulted in wage increases for drivers is the ending of freedom of movement. Given that you don't whinge and whine about this, you say, can we assume that you accept this now?

Funny you should mention that, I know the girl who runs the donkeys. Or to be more accurate, walks them.

No financial benefits to be found, even by the minority group on CWDF, the little Englanders. Good on you for struggling to keep up your lot over there, I can see it's hard for you.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nothing against that, just not my thing. We're all entitled to our preferences. The Welsh tend to leave donkeys alone. Donkeys aren't that common but sheep are everywhere, as you probably know. Why scrabble around after a portion of chips, when free caviar is all around you?

Perhaps Jim is taking a more narrow view, the market for clowns hasn't been disrupted by the ending of freedom of movement.

"Vegetable growers have been forced to raise pay for workers by up to 60 per cent to almost £20 an hour to combat a chronic labour shortage. Coronavirus and Brexit have been blamed for driving away thousands of foreign pickers and packers while not enough Britons apply for the jobs. Bosses are estimated to need up to 500,000 workers across the food supply sector, from pickers in the fields to packers, processors and drivers. The sharp rise in wages is expected to feed through to shelf prices". www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9686521/Farm-workers-wages-soar-60-cent-amid-dire-labour-shortage-caused-Brexit-Covid.html

If an industry relies on labour but is prepared only to pay wages appropriate to impoverished third-world workers, it will need to up its game and pay a realistic wage. Yes there will obviously be a knock on effect on prices but that is just the way things are. We could re-introduce slavery (more than we have already), that would keep the prices in shops down, but there may be some snowflakes who would object.

I recently countersigned a neighbours daughters passport application form. Whilst chatting, she told me that she had applied for temp work on a farm, picking fruit. She gave up the idea at an early stage. Wage worked out at around £7PH.
