"almost impossible to moor"??
What?
Who are these people?
When I was full time cruising on the cut I used to curse them for mowing right to the edge. A bit of vegetation is lovely right beside the boat. It's not like it is huge thorn bushes!
Times change and I am glad to be off the ditches not just because of the management but because of some of the boat users too !
It's all fucked innit.

It always used to be like that, a solution then and now is cut it back yourself. I still carry a pair of shears for that very jobπ± I had a scythe, a bagging hook and a slasher on my narrow boat.

Youβre off the cut because you were a persistent overstayer and piss taker. You were not only part of the problem, you were very much at the forefront of developing it.

Sorry I was going back 30 years Maybe not Berko but elsewhere it was always like that. You need one of these www.toolstation.com/hawksmoor-18v-25cm-cordless-grass-trimmer/p11494

I wonder if people would prefer to pay more for their licenses in order to fund more vegetation clearance.
It must be quite costly. I have even seen contractors mowing a towpath entirely surfaced with no plants anywhere.
Maybe someone has been looking at it and worked it out.
If this really does stop people mooring then I believe they ought to re-examine their circumstances and consider not living on a boat.
I note also the specific live aboard v holiday boater conflict. Again.

No I wasn't actually and I do still have a boat on the cut on a paid for mooring on account of it being a residential boat. Yes I got into some difficulty last year with the overstaying but I am not alone in that am I. Anyway we have done this one already. It's funny how you get it so wrong sometimes ETA by "the ditches" I mean places like Berkhamsted and other areas I used to quite like moving around in on my boats. Things do change but I really do believe that people moaning about tall grass and some weeds on the margin between surfaced path and piling is pathetic. Sorry to be blunt but it is pathetic. Get a fucking caravan, a mooring or a house or something and it won't happen !!

Whatβs the point of having one of them? Youβre not allowed to cut it yourself according to CRT.

I can see why CRT have a policy. The last thing they want is some entitled idiot strimming the whole thing but a little bit where you get off front and back of boat isn't going to be a problem.
Just try not to fall in any holes

Iβm using that as a basis for my reply to you.

I wonder how the anglers deal with it all.

It didn't go anywhere near being forcibly removed. And I am still 99% likely to be the largest contributor to the CRT coffers of anyone you will meet
