The old towpathsi I remember just after the cable and wireless fiasco were nice and rough which also had the positive effect of not encouraging idiot zombie high speed cyclists.
Real cyclists are not a problem but the zombie time trial arseholes are one of the worst curses ever to befall the sometimes pleasant towpaths.
Times do change.
I actually think that although canals are quite interesting the land on which they are based could be used for far better things to the benefit of the average citizen.
ETA fill it in and leave a wildlife channel, water transfer system. Derelict locks can be picnic places. Special high speed 2 wheel vehicle transport track and a nice flowery path for people who want to walk and have a nice time and see butterflies and adders.
Just do away with it all. What use is it? Realistically in a modern eco friendly planet saving type of way.
Cycle route could be sub surface for high efficiency and it gets them out of the way. Interchanges in strategic locations.
Pedestrians authorised to disable illegal cyclists on the path by electrocution.

Getting stung by nettles is really good for you as it promotes healthy circulation. Ok so it's a bit of a nuisance but the overall health effects are significantly more positive than not having any nettles.

I read that ordinary stinging nettles are in fact quite a good cure for coronaviruses if you swallow large bundles of them. Or if you are in a hurry small balls or pellets work but not as well.
You have to pick them and compress them into a ball around the size of a golf ball then swallow them with honey within 15 minutes of picking them.
Like the PG tips you have to use the top parts of the plant.

I long to go back to the days when dredgings were spread on towpaths π it certainly stopped cycling π Come to that dredging even if it's not spread on fields and towpaths would be good.

My first winter was on the Ashby and around Braunston. 94/95. I remember getting quite nice large lumps of coal out of the dredgings on the Ashby. Real coal. A bit dirty but it did chuck a bit of heat out.
Probably illegal these days or soon to be.
That was near Stoke Golding. BW had done some piling and backfilled with dredgings. Which seemed rather a sensible thing to do.

It's rather rash to make that sort of comment.

Pedestrians authorised to disable illegal cyclists on the path by electrocution. How will you distinguish the illegal cyclists from the legal ones?

Pedestrians authorised to disable illegal cyclists on the path by electrocution. How will you distinguish the illegal cyclists from the legal ones? In my scheme cycling on the footpath area will be illegal. I should have made it clearer "Special high speed 2 wheel vehicle transport track and a nice flowery path for people who want to walk WITHOUT ANY BICYCLES ALLOWED and have a nice time and see butterflies and adders. The only solution for 2 wheel vehicle users is to separate them from walking people. Otherwise they are a nuisance. People should have a basic right to be able to go for a walk, specially in urban areas, somewhere where there are not zombie cyclists. 2wv is a great solution to personal transport IF YOU ARE IN A HURRY but some people want to do things without being blah blah blah and blah blah blah. Isn't it.

"If you gently sand against the grain, push against the narrativeβ¦ the sheep push back with aggression. You can lead a horse to water, but you canβt make it read or believe anything that isnβt government approved messaging. I have many failings.. but I have always been able to see through lies. And I can think for myself. And I like to read. Most people cannot do this. Now we see why North Koreans donβt rise up. Or why protests in China are quashed. Itβs not that these places donβt have those who see the truth.. or wonβt fight.. but the masses drag everyone down. As long as people continue to wear masks and allow themselves to be jabbed with Gatesβ poisons.. we will never be free again." Jim's been injected, Jim's been infected. naughtyfox hasn't had his jabs, naughtyfox will die, cought the bug from germ riddled infectious school kids. All for the want of a little prick.
