The drivers wages are down to the shortage of drivers, how many buggered off back to the Eu when Brexit happened, never to come back. There are various reasons for the HGV driver shortage, all combining in a perfect storm. Covid, Brexit, IR35 among others. However, there are other inflationary pressures. Cold rolled steel coil for example, the material from which cars, fridges, washing machines and a million other things are made is up by £500 per tonne in the last year and by £80 per tonne just this month alone. Cost of bringing goods over from China are crazy still, this time of the year a 40ft box would cost you £1000, today it’s anywhere up to £20k. If I was a foxy kind of guy, I would be pointing the Covid finger firmly at China….

Well cover me with butter and call me slippery !!!
Contacted the brewery reference ordering their excellent porter ...... and was quoted an astonishingly high price
"click and collect" from the brewery, 50p per pint more than buying the same thing from a local supermarket !!!
They must be avin a giraffe !!!
Do you want to support the local brewery or tesco? It's Morrisons not (spit) tesco ....... I'd support them better if they weren't charging £24.92 for 12 bottles collected from the brewery as opposed to Morrisons charging £18.00 for 12 bottles..................... Simple as !!!

Most businesses which do "factory shop" sales have a policy of charging the full RRP in order to avoid undercutting the retailers they supply.

I wouldn't dare, I would drink it all. Gill has five bottles of Pink gin, she will have four by Xmas, i should be more like Gill. I'm the same. If there's a bottle of red in the house it gets drunk. Simples. Nope... I can leave vino untouched for ages until I open a bottle Same with boxes of chocolates I've always been able to 'hoard' food n wine without touching it However once open......

One of my boys works for Hornby Hobbies and they have a factory shop, obviously he gets a substantial staff discount but for the ordinary punter it's the most expensive place in the land to buy a Hornby/ Scalextric/ Airfix/ Corgi model.

Most businesses which do "factory shop" sales have a policy of charging the full RRP in order to avoid undercutting the retailers they supply. RRP's are illegal. Not so. RPM (Retail Price Maintenance) is illegal. "What are the implications for Recommended Retail Prices? The prohibition on RPM does not mean that suppliers cannot suggest Recommended Retail Prices (RRPs). Any RRP must only be just that, a recommendation, and the retailer must remain free to determine independently the price at which it resells the products to its customers".

These costs are not the normal inflationary pressure they're the results of the complete chaos caused by Covid19 in the International container trade.
You shouldn't try and use these figures as the underlying inflation (which is there) they are a special situation which will hopefully sort itself out over the coming months.

That's why I don't eat biscuits, patty ! When I gave up smoking I put two cigarettes and a lighter in a packet in a kitchen drawer. Subsequently carried them about for several years and three house moves. Finally donated them to a friend who claimed to be desperate when visiting .... (God, they must have been truly foul by then). Still can't stockpile wine, though! Good luck for your last baby-spitting night x
