I was driven to muttering ffs, well maybe I said it out loud. I was stiffling a giggle. Really trying not to do either!
Arriving at a lock a plastic was coming down, gate opened but not clearing the exit lock landing, I gave the standard long blast so they know I'm there, and ready to enter lock.
Hovering back and forward, for five minutes, nothing much happening then someone starts shouting at me to get in the lock [having already asked me if that is my intention].
The plastic is still on the lock landing. I don't know why. I'm having to creep past them, it's pretty gusty. Guy then shouts at me to hurry up! Obviously it's not his plastic!
He tells me it's his turn to go through the lock!, presumably he wants to re fill the lock while I try to maintain station with no access to lock landing.
So his widebeam is blocking my exit and he says he will move it out of the way, fine, but then he decides I should exit the lock and he will slip past me. There is not enough room, and nothing much I can do about that, gridlock.
So I am half in half out the lock while he is blocking my exit. I do not comment. It dawns on him that he can't get past me, so he has to back up. Good job he has bowthrusters.
I know he's a first season boater, but really, I thought about explaining about water conservation and boater co-operation. I gave him a wave and proceeded on my journey, not sure if he had do it all, possibly the plastic on the lock landing intended to help at some stage, but I never saw him at all.
Plenty of CRT staff around, but they were busy not getting involved, I don't blame them. I think he'd previously had a go at them for mooring their workboat near lock, good luck with getting assistance in the future. I must say the CRT staff are generally really obliging, and I have been swooshed through locks on several occasions.
