These new terms and conditions can only serve to encourage the “little hitlers,” who are attracted to volunteering for crt. That's high on the list of the most serious consequences you can think of with regard to C&RT's latest round of legally unenforceable crap dressed up as legitimate T&C's, . . is it ?

Did anyone else see the Telemachus comment on the cdwf thread explaining that he needs a high horse because he is very tall? Comedy gold.

Well HIP HIP HOORAY! We ascended Wilmcote flight today, not a volockie in sight. It was so relaxing! Well as relaxing as 16 somewhat knackered locks can be when the copilot is incapacitated and can’t wind paddles or move gates.
Nice couple of guys on the boat in front who back-opened several paddles for us. Although we had helped get them into the bottom lock where they were stuck by a not fully opening gate. Basically I rammed them up the back end with my enormous fender, if you know what I mean.

Someone ended up being clouted with a windlass being aggressively or irresponsibly swung about in the hand of someone present as a representative of the so-called navigation authority, . . and you think that's acceptable ? As I've said on previous occasions, . . in the C&RT, a good proportion of you noddy-boating prats have got just exactly what you deserve. What a delightful chap you are ... may I remind you that we 'noddy-boating prats' still have boats to go 'noddy-boating' on I didn't say it was acceptable, I merely suggested that some sense of proportion should be retained. Rog Never mind about a "sense of proportion", Alice, . . why don't you try and get a hold on a sense of reality instead ? The windlass that the C&RT goon was waving about actually struck Nick on the shoulder. No-one knows for sure whether that was intentional or accidental, but either way, people's shoulders aren't very far away from eyes, faces, and temples. How do the likely consequences of a blow with a windlass to any of those square with your "sense of proportion ?

In the heat of the moment a verbal exchange of views can quite easily progress to violence It can be best to 'wind ones neck in', breathe deeply and walk away.... Can be far more satisfying leaving 'ranters' mid rant.
I used to confront... however I've realised its best to just walk away

But sometimes bullying control freaks have to be confronted, otherwise they just carry on with the same behaviour towards others. Obviously I am physically better placed to confront such people than you are.

In fairness, even taking all possible interpretations from Telemachus 's account, nothing much happened. He was irritated at being forcibly instructed/ordered about, by a volunteer, but chose rightly to carry on as he wished. The matter was then escalated slightly as a result of Telemachus seeking to photograph the volunteer. I fully understand the irritation, but I think the correct response was to do what he did initially i.e. ignore and carry on working HIS boat through HIS lock and let it go. Two occasions in two years (?) of being dissatisfied with a volunteer's bossyness isn't so bad considering how many volunteers must have been encountered in that period. Rog ...you noddy-boating prats have got just exactly what you deserve. And you got what you asked for. All's well.

I'd love to stop and trade insults with you, but I've some 'noddy-boating' to do . Of course that's an option still open to me ... apparently some people refuse to get a BSSC and pay the relevant fees so rather carelessly lose their boat. A 'sense of reality' can be very important in retaining your boat Rog
