Far too many chiefs and not enough indians, add to that the complete lack of any knowledge or understanding, and it looks yet another recipe destined to disaster. One cock up after another.

Well they’ve completely missed their targets of number of friends to get signed up and as far as I’m aware it’s all cost more than it’s raised. So really quite farcical and it won’t get any better now it’s in house.

They can have another go at falsifying data I suppose. Fuckin shambolic organisation.

Who or what are these two and however much do they cost the Trust? Hamish Shilliday, head of individual and legacy giving at the charity, said: “With the easing of restrictions, we are relaunching our face-to-face activity and, following an in-depth review, we are excited to be changing the way we operate to drive our Covid-19 recovery plans and future performance. “The new roles are benchmarked so that the trust is able to attract the best candidates and the move to an in-house team will allow the charity to give more direct input and support for its fundraisers day-to-day.” James Munoz, face-to-face development manager at the charity, said: “Towpath fundraising is about raising much-needed funds to continue our work, but also about introducing communities to the waterways – encouraging people to explore the network and all it has to offer.

I think CRT will need to create a new post - Head of Translating Hamish’s Corporate Bullshit-Speak into Plain English. Salary will be £65k.

Yeah. Why don't they just have a fundraising department. I presume the legacy part is people leaving money in their wills?
I wonder how many different names they have for departments that deal with fundraising and income from the public and how much does the management for each department cost?

The following are from the 2019/20 Annual Report with the previous year, 2018/19, in brackets.
No of Friends - 30,049 (28,600) against a target of 35,000
Friends comes under "donations & legacies" - £6.4m (£5.3m)
Income from Friends - £3.0m (£2.8m)
Other voluntary income - £0.5m (£0.6)
Peoples postcode lottery - £2.9m (£1.9m)
*Expenditure on raising voluntary income - £3,100,000 (£3,900,000)
(*Note - Most of this will be expenditure on Friends, rather than lottery or other income)
CRT say number of Friends has now dropped to less than 28,000. Cumulative losses since 2012 are between £5m and £6m.
CRT's original long term objective was to have 100,000 Friends producing £10m a year by 2022.
