So this means masks forever then? It's a fair question. We were told that vaccination was key to solving the problem. So, many people submitted to being injected. Now though, apparently, this is insufficient. The problem here is that the agenda has been seized by scientists who, by their nature, are ultra cautious. Governments, not wishing to 'put their heads on a block' find it easier to side with the ultra cautious rather than those with a more typical attitude towards risk. And so we have it. The problem is that vaccination rates in the under 40s are still very low. The latest variant seem better at targeting this younger group. And of course even if double vaccinated it doesn’t make you immune, it only reduces your chances of serious illness and death by 95%. But the remaining 5% still represents over 3 million people. Maybe they don’t matter if the price for their survival is that you have to suffer the oppression of having to wear a mask in indoor public places.

If you think wearing a mask is oppressing (first world definition of oppressing I suspect!) then you should consider how oppressed you would feel when unable to breathe due to Covid exacerbated by your asthma. The point is that I have an exemption but the gossipers and self appointed arbiters of goodness and light make it very difficult for me to exercise what is my legal right. In my opinion since you have demonstrated that you can in fact wear a mask without any significant consequences, that you are officially exempt is a travesty.

someone got out the bed a bit grumpy this morning... Anyway I know I joke about the quality of people on here, but really this thread highlights how incredibly stupid and selfish a good chunk of them are.

It certainly highlights that Ross wasn’t the driving force behind the bitterness on this forum. Rather sad really.

I voted yes, and i think i will when shopping and such, work have requested we all carry on so its not much difference really.
How long can i continue though is another question, its hard work when shopping, gets itchy and makes breathing difficult after a while, more so when its hot like now.

The point is that I have an exemption but the gossipers and self appointed arbiters of goodness and light make it very difficult for me to exercise what is my legal right. So you feel under some form of coercion? I wonder where that will lead. Riccos mistake is that he is not always protected by the exemption of the law. If he can wear a mask then no exemption applies, of course that doesn't mean he sometimes cannot wear one and thefore under the scope of the exemption. And for clarity, if he thinks the exemption applies all the time, then he doesn't have to wear one, I'm not making any suggestions that he should or shouldn't do anything When he can wear one, the law forces him to wear it.

I didn't vote when I posted my answer (page 2) as there is no answer exactly right, (which would be "depending on the circumstances at the time")
I see no need to change my stance but I have decided that the nearest answer is "don't know" so I have voted there.

Have you paid attention to the poll result or just the comments? Just the comments by the prolific posters on here, who set the tone of the forum. No one here has decided to remove mandatory mask wearing or other restrictions. I was curious what reaction the removal would generate, hence the silly poll. We are allowed to express our views on the latest review of restrictions, and comment on what our individual response may be I think. Having seen numerous people wearing masks under the chin, top of the head and just covering the mouth, and indeed wearing masks that look older, and certainly dirtier than me, I question the effectiveness of their introduction. But I'll continue to wear them when and where requested, mandatory or not as I've said and voted. My individual behaviour will do nothing however towards making public places more safe I'm afraid. Apologies if my views conflict with the tone of the forum you'd prefer. Rog

I think Nick was just commenting on my question - not having a pop at any individual - might be wrong though.
However the poll isn't silly, it gives a bit of a judgement on how fellow boaters/thunderboaters think. Just my opinion though.

Rog Its a bit odd though that as soon as Ross takes the break, you start yet another Covid thread that has the potential to become controversial. "I was curious what reaction the removal would generate" Really? Ah well, it gave you the opportunity to further express the obsequious acceptance of any rule made or yet to be made. What a good dog. Yup! definitely a twat

I started the poll following the announcement that restrictions were being lifted AND because a comment was made by someone that they'd be burning their masks. I've no idea if that was before or after Ross departed and was unconnected. I find it amusing that I'm criticised both for following none mandatory rules and for being selfish for not following such rules ... hey ho ! Perhaps you'd care to reveal your own opinion rather than just sneering from the touch line ... but probably not. Rog

I commented on his post because it should be patently obvious to everyone that there is no way anyone could sensibly have started a post mentioning Covid before Ross went for a cooling off break. Any attempt before that would have resulted in any sensible discussion being totally swamped under by a deluge of cut and paste posts
