A very strange tour without crowds and squads in enclosed isolated 'bubbles' but nevertheless I'm looking forward to the three test series.
I like the balance in the squad , the flair and the grunt.
Anyone else a Lions fan ?

It tickled me watching England v Canada on Saturday when they called Marcus Smith off and told him in the tunnel he'd been called up to the Lions to cover Finn Russell. Only 22 years old, he thought he'd done something wrong and "was in trouble" What a four weeks that young lad has had. Rog

Rog Marcus Smith is a class act where as Finn Russell is best described as Mercurial - on his best days he is a superb talent; as Scotland have found to their cost he doesn’t always have best days, be that on the field of play or behind closed doors. I was surprised Gatland was happy to take him TBH.

England u20 have just taken a Grand Slam ...we have a lot of talented youngsters coming through ... Saints providing a few.
I'm sure Dan Biggar will be the 'go to' 10 in the tests, he's on such a streak of top form ...but I hope to see Smith play and see how he copes with the environment.Rog

The S. Africa A team today is virtually the full test side.
It's going to be tough but I guess a great indicator of how the tests will go.
Let's hope for no more injuries.

'The British Lions' seems an odd term given that there are no lions in Britain and as far as I know, there never has been?
It's a bit like calling Manchester United 'Manchester Springboks' or Manchester City 'Manchester Warthogs'
Very strange indeed.

Although started in 1888, the name British Lions wasn't adopted until 1950 after South African journalists used the phrase to describe the touring team.
Being 'the best players' selected from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to represent a unified British Isles team it seems very appropriate.

Is it Northern Ireland only? 'The British and Irish Lions' suggests it includes the Republic as well.

Ah right yes makes sense, given that the national team is all Ireland.

Lost 17 - 13 ... sounds like it was extremely tough with the Lions having the better of possession and territory stats but not doing it on the scoreboard.
The three test series is going to be extremely tough.

Aye but everyone knows that lions and tigers never share the same territory. Apart from a tiny part of Gujarat, India. Only in theory though, because all the tigers are now dead.
