It's sad when these babies are found, an act of desperation by young mothers who are not prepared or may not even know they are pregnant. I do hope if they find mum shes given the right sort of support. Seems strange that the Police are so openly treating this as a case of murder when neonatal infanticide is normally treated as the action of somebody not in full control of their mental faculties. Reading between the lines, perhaps they do not think it was the mother who was responsible? I am now seeing reports ref Murder enquiry

I'm wondering if it's some kind of family 'honour' killing,in that a daughter has brought shame on the family. Thats really sad if it is something like that.. Especially when there are people who would adopt

I'm wondering if it's some kind of family 'honour' killing,in that a daughter has brought shame on the family. That's what I wondered. Normally cases like this are dealt with on the basis that the mother found herself in a situation which was completely beyond her control, possibly due to limited mental capacity and the Police always state that the welfare of the mother is their only concern. I can't remember a prosecution for murder of a new-born in my lifetime.

It's interesting that no colour etc has been mentioned. That's what made me wonder. Early police reports rarely include colour these days unless the crime might be considered to be a racially motivated one.

It's interesting that no colour etc has been mentioned. That's what made me wonder. You would think that if the Police are trying to trace a person suspected of the murder of a new-born, then the ethnicity of the child would be highly relevant in searching for that person but presumably the Police are so terrified of the accusation of "institutional racism" that they feel that this information is best not divulged.

Unless the victim is a person of colour, the suspect white, of course.
