Perhaps a Morse mystery. "How to adjust the end of the cable and why it seems all springy". That sort of thing.

Peak season? Poor grammar?
Not likely to be a Morse ....

Perhaps the "external parties" is some kind of Middleport Potteries rave?

No idea ... but I hope someone's paying a fee to C&RT's coffers for such an intrusive closure.

No idea ... but I hope someone's paying a fee to C&RT's coffers for such an intrusive closure. Rog ... and with only a week's notice.... I'd be well miffed if I'd stumped up a couple of grand for my holiday only to discover that I can't get through .... It's nearly as bad as the Market Drayton cycle track fiasco.... Or the madness at Great Haywood - I very nearly tripped over the "No Mooring" sign banged into the second lock landing bollard. It would be funny if it was a joke ..... or should that be the other way round?

I suppose we must be grateful it's only 24 hours ... it will affect our departure from the Macc so I'm pleased I know now to be able to adjust plans appropriately Rog

What of the "ringers" who've been planning and looking forward to this for a long time - and NEXT WEEK might be their one and only ...... This will affect the hire boats and time shares quite badly.. What about the tunnel bookings? Surely CRT had more notice than this? If not, why not?

We boaters have no right to know what's going on-we know that.However-joggers,anglers & sicklists must be peeved about their quality time by water being ruined...

HOW very dare you... when we left Middleport on Sunday morning ALL was good - it was probably some thing to do with the historic boats/hippy music thing that went on at Etruria over the weekend... NOTHING TO DO WITH ME.
Anyway - luckily (for once) the new guests don't join us until Tuesday so we'll be no where near it until at least Thursday.. ner ner
