A few days of blue sky and sunshine ... getting into the habit of warm dry weather when we wake ... not needing to worry about the 'right' clothing. Not sure of the reasons, but everybody seems to be particularly smiley, friendly and relaxed over the last few days. There seems to be a sort of relaxed lethargy about ... certainly in East Cheshire. Is it my imagination or are you finding the same ? It'll do for me until Christmas Rog

Certain amount of lethargy hereπ± CBA to go out, saves meeting people and having to be polite to them. I've got two hedges, a couple of bushes and some shrubs to trim, I am avoiding that job in this heat. Sitting on the verandah in the shade too early for a beer yet.

Too hot, even in Barmouth. Place absolutely rammed now, 2 mile tailback to get into the town yesterday. Council have increased parking along the prom to Β£5.50. Almost nobody is paying it now. As soon as a traffic warden arrives in town word gets around, lots of parking spaces appear, as if by magic.

So far not hot enough to make me want to buy an aircon device for the domicile. But every year there is a week or two when it seems the limit of stupidity and parsimony not to have one. When those two weeks arrive, it's too late to bother until the next year...looking forward with optimism to Wednesday when I hope the aircon system on my car will once more fulfil its design function.

My two are at least nine years old, bought when we on our mooring and both working so used to come home to a locked up boat that had been in the sun all day, used to reduce inside temperature quickly. As for car Aircon mine packed up whist we were away boating, hopefully going in this week to be fixed, it was only regased six weeks ago π

Sat outside in the shade (and a bit of breeze) to have lunch at Egerton Arms, Astbury and a couple of beers. Pleasant stroll back and now sat outside the boat in a shady, breezy spot. Such fun Rog

My two are at least nine years old, bought when we on our mooring and both working so used to come home to a locked up boat that had been in the sun all day, used to reduce inside temperature quickly. As for car Aircon mine packed up whist we were away boating, hopefully going in this week to be fixed, it was only regased six weeks ago π Here be the story so far... Aircon not working. Went to a re-gas place to see if that would sort it. No fix, no fee, no danger. Didn't work. Compressor identified as seized-up scrap. I should have said 'ah well' and done something else at this point. But oh no. Went to a scrapyard. Bought second-hand compressor for Β£45.00. Paid mechanic to fit it and attempt re-gas. Didn't work either, although the EM clutch did work. No actual compressing action though. Shit. This is the point where desire exceeded good thinking. Bought new(!) compressor for Β£220. Was advised at this point that my radiator has a leak, and if I was to fit a new compressor then it would also be a good idea to fit a new condenser. Turns out that the rad for my specific Yaris is hard to come by and stupidly expensive (circa Β£150.00). Looked online for a rad. Found a website claiming to supply one for Β£60.00, and a similar price for the condenser. Checked OEM codes with Toyota, everything matched up. Thought optimistic thoughts and placed the order. Turns out that despite the website having a .co.uk address, the supplier is in fact based in Germany, and they don't understand English particularly well. After two weeks or so I was convinced it was all a scam. But then lo! and behold, the parts turned up. Booked slot with local garage. Rad, condenser and pump fitted. Took old compressor from scrapyard back and asked for a refund. To their credit, such was given with no quibbles. Waited a few days to ensure all was well with the new rad. Have been advised by garage that its a very good idea to have the aircon system cleaned before re-gassing (also it's a T&C of the compressor guarantee). So that's the plan for Wednesday. Was it worth it? Absolutely not. But if I have an arctic blast on demand I suppose that will be something.

The floating electric beer drinking platform doesn't have the same feel to it without the cheap children in it. However one mustn't grumble. Worse things happen at sea. An alder tree. Quite a lot of idiots around and pleb noises but as above. It's not the end of the world.
