The windows are jammed etc Hang on, thatβs the wrong way for this thread to go π Woke up this morning to not the usual βmorning dear, did you sleep well?β Instead I got abruptly woken to a searching question, Gaz! Gaz! wake up - what do we do about a Bat in the bath?β Now, I donβt know about you but thatβs one of the less common ways of being woken up! indeed she was right, Kevin was asleep in the bath (those that can remember a 90βs advert for Fruit Gums will understand the relevance of that name π) Heβs made a good mess in the tub too! A juvenile Common pipistrelle that appears in good nick, just in the wrong habit! I placed a 2l ice cream tub carefully over Kevin then slid a piece of card underneath, shuffling him onto the card, fair bit of protesting but no harm done. He was left imprisoned for the day in the relative cool of the bathroom with the tub right way up leaving a tiny air gap and a heavy book over to stop the crafty critter escaping. Heβs shuffled about the tub a bit so we know heβs Ok Just waiting for nightfall to set him free - another 10 or 15 minutes to go by the look of things. Fingers crossed he finds his way home and doesnβt become Red Kite food in the morning π€ππ

That's coincidental. Jane popped home for the night at the beginning of the week, and on her return was telling me she'd gone to open the bedroom windows for the night, but on seeing bats flying about outside, decided to close them. I told her there was NO chance a bat would accidentally fly in a window ... oopsie Let us know how the release goes ... after all it could be a homing bat ! Rog

Well, the little fella joined his brethren - plenty of them flying about overhead on a gorgeous summers night. Took about 10 minutes to get his bearings, a fairly unspectacular flight into the fence, a crawl up the fence onto the post to gather his thoughts and strength and before you knew it he was aloft and circling about no bother at all. Following them along their flight path reveals they are in our eves - oh well! As good an excuse as any not to go up there and paint em! I must admit I wondered what the black muck on our white doorstep was - too small for mouse sh!te, I now know it to be bat crap! I will get in touch with our local bat group on their bat phone π€ͺ and let them know weβve got these most engaging of creatures living with us. Resting on the garden table gathering up the will for flight. \ Ciao Kevin - Happy trails!

Rog Quite common by all accounts - bit of a mare for us as we are trying to get the plaster dried! Oh well, stuffy nights and windows open only during the day from here on in.

Love watching bats fly around.
Going to put some bat boxes up on the house and see if we can encourage some to move in.

Love bats... Used to get a few swooping around up at Horror House Not seen any here I guess cemetery is the place to go at dusk for that. There is an amazing house in there which is being renovated. I walk most days to check it out
