Perhaps Donald Trump had been bathing there? apparently it's normally that colour from iron oxide washing out of the old mine workings ..... I wonder if it has been dry there for a while I was quite amazed at the clear water colour, got to say in many years of passing through there, its always been heavily stained with oxide colouring!

Very orange when we last passed through there but that was some years ago.

Went on a school geography trip there when I was 13, the water was pale then. Apparently Our Madgesty had visited not long before and they had toned it down so as not to offend her.
Or maybe it was because I was visiting!

One suspects it was probably due to a member of the Real Family being in the vicinity !
Eugenie sends her regards by the way.

Landed on myfeet again thanks to the Facebook marketplace, picked this little ‘Epping replica’ beauty up last week for a bargain £250😱👍 Removed legs and it fits as if it was made for the gap, just need to cut n shut the flue and boatmans cabin will be toasty warm.👍

Nice enough stove but why are the hotplates all knobbly?!can't put a kettle on it! This does not speak well to my design language - why did they not do it like this?

The thing is that the Andyberg stove has hotplates which do not provide a flat surface. I don't understand this as part of the object of a "range" is to be able to cook on it. In fact that is the primary purpose so why would someone make a range with non-flat hogplates? Years ago I was told about a kettle which had a round protruding base which went down into the fire but I have never seen one and it is plausible someone was attempting to speak eloquently to my design language while pulling my leg.

Far be it from me to criticise the design language of a Porsche driver as some of the proper porches (912 for example) are design classics but this range bothers me Is it so you can lift the lids with a glove rather than a dedicated lid lifter? Epping range for comparison:
