Its actually a 73hp Beta thats been stripped of its travelpack but it doesn't look bad in its own engineroom for a ‘new style’ engine! 73 hp? Shurely shome mishtake!

You are indeed correct, Im guilty of ‘under-egging the pudding’, its a 75hp unit! 🙂 To be honest I though 73hp was far too much for a narrowboat and the engine didn’t look that big, and that it was 43. But clearly it is. I suppose one downside of a large engine is increased fuel consumption at idle / low power. It will be interesting to see what it does to the hour. Also interesting to see if the skin tank is big enough for 75hp!

Thing is Nick, it doesn't need 75 Hp so it will be probably, at not much more than tickover producing say 15/20 Hp so at that rate it will run cool (of course this all supposes Andyberg won't be trying to get it up on the plane)

Telemachus was being a bit facetious in pointing out that beta do not produce and have never produced a "73". The closest one is the 75.
They rate them by horsepower although the Beta 60 is actually 56hp.
Marketing.
But no 73 there as the 75 actually is 75hp.
I am prepared to be proved wrong by the nomenclature.

As Andyberg said, it's cruised the whole accessible system including rivers over the past 15 years ... I think any issues will have been resolved. Looks a terrific project. Rog

I thought andyberg bought a camper van and was going round Europe in it. What happened to that retirement plan? You mean he didn't discuss his plans with you ! That's shocking ... utterly disgraceful behaviour. Rog
