What a smashing project - I really look forward to following it. Are you gonna do a blog or at least a photo blog roll? It does come in handy later on when you want to try and remember how you did something or where you ran cable etc.

All that wisdom(?), profound thoughts just drifting in never never land. I did type one out into hard copy and made a book which is now hidden. I look forward to seeing this project progress

After a weekend armed with a Henry Hoover, I attacked all the cobwebs and general muck on board. Id taken a load of new bedding and an all-important mattress protector, so finally had somewhere clean to rest my head. Today, I booked Wednesday to be lifted out, which gives me time to sort some paint and ppe tomorrow as well as fitting a replacement Webasto to a boat in Burscough and a starter isolator replacement on a boat at same moorings. So I decided to see if I actually had any floor under the engine in the engine-room as it was covered in a thick oily / water / fur-ball liquid gunk..A truly awful mess!🙄 After scooping the bulk of the crud out, of about 40 litres worth of oil, grease, webs, fur, rubbish etc an example of the shite is below, including the normal ‘missing 10mm socket’ and things I have no idea if they are even animal, vegetable or mineral! 🤢🤮 I decided to ignore Tonys advice of using a coal shovel to scoop out, as having a bubble stove, its a tool I don’t possess, being the 21st century, I was aware of the invention of puppy pads for this task. £2.20 spent on these at Home Bargains finished the job superbly, to show the wonderful ruddle red painted floor below. 👍 I finally washed the outside to remove all the birdcrap and general crud and am now sat content with the days work, having a Superbok waiting for MotoGp at 2000 on the tele, then my knock on Wednesday👍

Keep the engine ... looks a beauty Rog With a good clean up, sorting the power cables, water pipes and the like, plus some trad pictures on the boatman's cabin folding doors, the engine and room will look fabulous👍

Looking good, following this, I would love a boat with it's own engine room but in a 40 odd footer alas!

I had a 40ft narrow boat with its own engine room once but it did take quite a lot away from the accomodation.
It's doable but not that practical.
