Ok I know but I'm gonna ask anyway....boat in for blacking next month. It has been done twice in the last 3 years but flakes off so I'm taking it all off with a Tercoo. Without being rude I don't want 'opinions' I would like to hear from anyone who has actually used Keelblack in the last couple of years, does it live up to the hype, would you use it again (or no) reasons why etc. Please keep on topic as I ain't got time to sift out the crap.....sorry to be blunt but that's Asperger's Syndrome for you lol.

I've used it twice, past two blackings. Easy to apply, doesn't have to be bone dry, the first time I took mine back to metal with a tercoo, last time just high pressure jet wash. Coat of fertan then keelblack. First coat was dry by the time I got round the boat. However, I may just go for 2 pack next time, because I will be using another dry dock that does it. Sandblasting not allowed in Hebden Dry Dock, even if it was open. Been closed for ages.

So if I take it off with a Tercoo are you saying the surface would be good enough for 2 part epoxy? I'm not saying I am going to use Keelblack it's just I can't find any present day comments, they all appear to be from 2016/17 with no follow ups hence why I qualified who I wanted to respond.

Ignore the fox! His bitumen will be holed by galvanic currants in the marina where he abandoned it 2 years ago. It might have sunk by now.
I am happy to use keelblack, I used the rotoblaster to clean off the old bituminous blacking. 2 pack epoxy is better than either bitumen or keelblack, not a great deal more cost on a 35ft boat and lasts a lot longer, my hull is 5mm sides 6mm base, so it's the way to go. It needs gritblasting first.
I've done it myself in local Hebden drydock 3 times, twice with KB. Dock is shut, so because I have to travel further might as well get 2 pack epoxy done.

I used it 3 years ago ( or is it 4?) but I painted it over 10 year old 2 pack to try and extend the 2 pack's life
From what can be seen it looks fine ....... but I won't really know until next year when I drydock again

Used it on Loddon 3 years ago it was still fine when the boat went in for a repaint last year. Found myself just going round and round the boat painting as by the time I had finished the second side it was dry on the first. It was 25degC that week outside and nearer to 35C in the polytunnel 😱

I am unhappy I used Keelblack, I was conned, and should have listened to your advice, naughtyfox. And now the hull of my boat has rusted through. But you told us your Keelblack was going to last forever!

Nothing lasts forever.
I'm sure there was a song about this but I don't have time to sift through them all.

But you told us your Keelblack was going to last forever! If anyone wants to get Covid I am riddled with it and could give you a nice wet kiss. I had to take three 'vaccines' to get it. No thanks.
