Thought I'd start a seperate thread rather than randomly float my fustrations in other posts.
So todays (day 17) update:
Told by other boaters it looks like some progress has been made, they have drained the whole flight in an effort to drain the one lock, hopefully concrete will be laid later today or tomorrow.
Sounded like good news so went for an evening stroll to see the progress...
3 almost empty pounds and two almost full pounds on the walk down.
Brief chat with some CRT guys trying to come up with a plan to get rid of the water... Told me tomorrow's work was to take the workboat back and pick up fresh supplies - I presume that means some more postcrete that hasn't already been drowned and not we have run out of bacon!
Got to lock 63, the lock and pound below it is about 2ft above the cill that needs replacing, about 18 invhes higher than it has been for the best part of 2 weeks.
Progress eh...!

Also in Goole "Farndale H" and "Fusedale H" patiently waiting to deliver sea dredged sand to Leeds.
(still being discharged in Hull ready for barges to transport it on ..... big heap now)

Makes it nearly impossible to single hand. Fortunately, last time I did it on the way up I was towing a broken down boat to the boatyard at the top and on the way down a lovely friend insisted on helping the whole way, then cycled back to Riley Green! Seriously, though - where DO you tie up? Previously I just left my boat in one lock whilst setting the next, moved up, trudged back to shut the gates, and repeat.... ...BUT it is a pretty flight

Makes it hard to share with other boaters as well because they either have to accept the much slower way of a single hander or accept they need to do all the hard work.

Sorry, forgot you're going down - but, yes, that IS the only sensible way on your own. However, it is SO quiet you have the flight to yourself for hours - though that might not be the case after your long delay...
If you DO get an offer of sharing, ask if you can tie up to their boat so that you can do your share of the work at the locks.

I suspect both here and Wigan is going to be a bit chaotic once (if...) the flight opens. I'm wondering if Wigan can cope with 20+ boats descending in a day...

Oh, yes - I forgot you still have that delight to come ... Good luck! (I think if you go on a Tuesday and pre-book with CRT a couple of their bods are supposed to help you down if you're on your own but there is also a lovely local group people often talk of who come out when needed - I don't mean N.Nick's much maligned and despised CRT Vollies but there used to be a local farcebook group I believe. However, your colleagues in the local pub quiz team have probably enlightened you by now- I haven't been that way for a while - way too long now!) eta - apologies, crossed with @a 's post

CRT no longer provide assisted passage or vlockies at Wigan. Nick's (rather (in)famous) Wigan Flight Crew are the facebook volunteers...

How many of you are there held up by this pantomime, . . and for how much longer do all of you intend to put up with it ?

I guess if it is a very pretty flight there are worse places to be marooned. Hopefully you will get moving again soon.. don't forget this weekend a Bank Holiday so suspect tools will be downed from at least Mid day to-day until Tuesday.......
