I woke up Saturday and started sanding from 8am till 1pm, opened a beer and continued to drink till near midnight, I counted the empties, 14 beers plus I had two gins before bed. that was just me pottering round the boat doing little jobs and listening to music, its very easy to do this most weekends if i let myself. Hence the need for change. What size beers were these? Man size cans of lager, plus a bottle of ale.

Ah. That's a lot of units.
Good luck with the non-drinking I hope it works for you.
I like lager but can't handle more than a gallon specially if it's all after lunch !

We tended to drink at weekends & as a treat-Wednesday.A few years ago,we realised we'd been drinking a lot over a summer-so knocked Wednesdays on the head. Wednesdays made a comeback during the 1st lockdown & have been with us ever since.Reckon we'll knock Wednesdays on the head again, apart from the third week in Oct when we have bloody good friends coming to stay-who we haven't seen for nearly 2 years due to Covid & house moves.

I suspect my drinking has gone up a fair bit over the last couple of years, particularly so after the first lockdown. It is still not what I would call excessive, I very rarely fall over and so far have not slept in a hedge

I'm sure hedges are more comfortable than frozen ditches...
When I was young I woke up in a partially frozen ditch about 6 am on New Years Day, Mum asked me (well told me off) why I had run all the hot water away having a shower once I got home...............
My drinking has moderated a little since then...

There are some things NOT on my bucket list

I wish I had a hedge yesterday. Only went out for a quiet couple of beers.
Ended up so drunk I couldn't stand and tried to sleep on the pavement.
No idea how that happened.

Usually Alcohol By Mouth is what causes it.

There are so many experiences in life and really not enough time or the opportunity to try them all I will haf to be selective from now on..... nope not sleeping in a hedge... I once tried to sleep against a wall in a school playing field when events at home dictated the great outdoors a better place to be.. I stayed a few hours and crept back in about 4am.

When I was in Norway Spider an d I got very very drunk! it was -47 outside he climbed into a volvo snowcat and drove off into the wilderness I went to sleep in the tent store [its heated otherwise the tents are useless] Anyway I woke up in the morning and went for breakfast as I was hungover and hungry to discover a mass search was going on for us! Anyway I managed to get away with it Spider however when they found him 80 miles away was in deep do dah to say the least. Tentage stores it turns out are quite comfy
