So nearly one week on I have had this letter from the RNLI A huge thank you to the kindness and generosity shown by Dad’s friends and family - at his funeral we had a fairly simple affair with a small floral tribute from us boys and his grandchildren, flowers seem such a fleeting thing at a funeral, particularly when you consider they can only be on display at the Crem for 5 days anyway. He would far and away been happier to have seen a tangible benefit from those that showed their love, respect and friendship for him. Phoning the donations team was the best thing I did - he spent countless hours on the pier at Lowestoft and would much preferred for it to go directly to HIS local station rather than to the national pot. With a donation from Middle Nene Cruising Club to their local RNLI group the grand total came to £500. Next up is to send his floral tribute down the Tidal Nene Saturday evening on the ebb followed by a decent swill in the Dog in the Doublet 🍻 Thats a lovely thing to do...
