You can do it any time you like Only if the change involves the use of satire, preferably of the biting sort. Otherwise it's rather infra dig.

Cake ! Yes please Rog The contents of some thread or other that may exist in your confused world of what appears to be a consistent serious reading handicap, may well lead you to believe that - " The Son of Greta removed the engine under [my] direction ...", but I can assure you that the Thunderboat forum thread covering the breakdown, lifting out, repair, and re-installation of Ricco's engine, and started by Ricco [ The Son of Greta] himself -- neither indicates nor states anything of the sort, . . in any post, on any of its 10 pages.

I feel we need to get past the issue with Ricco's engine.
It seems like rumination to me and possible catastrophisation.
It's an awkward one to deal with and damhikt but this sort of trauma is best dealt with by

The consistent mis-reading of a very great deal of the thread may well lead you to believe that we care very much about what exactly happened but I can assure you that the majority of those who have followed the thread do not give a flying fuck whether you did or did not assist in any way. It is just a bit of a laugh, although admittedly also something of a budget affair.

Yes, but more to the point the incessant ridiculous polls with pathetically stupid title choices are, I believe, far more damaging to the forum. Does anybody really expect this place to be taken seriously or is it just as Rog suggests an arena for friends to cozy up together and make in-jokes with each other? The second one

My take is that when folk need proper, boaty help or advice-it's freely given. It's also a bit of a social gathering which I enjoy very much.To me,it has the best of both worlds-without being so far up its own arse(like some groups or members here) that the senile, old farts keep seeing their same Werther's mint over & over again...

That's a fair point and I agree with you. So bye. Well overdue me thinks

Back to the (deleted) OP's question - surely it depends on the setting of one's moral compass?

Does anybody really expect this place to be taken seriously or is it just as Rog suggests an arena for friends to cozy up together and make in-jokes with each other? I'm just one member here like you. I try to start threads on a variety of subjects to encourage chat ... not being a technical fellow they cannot be serious technical threads ... I lack the skills, sorry. I am in awe of faffer, @gazza, Telemachus , JohnV and others ... their skills and posts are compulsory reading even though much of the content is over my head. I would be happy for more people to open more threads and tilt the balance in favour of more serious technical input . But there has to be room for we Noddy boaters to have a laugh, make in-jokes , and banter too . That some here feel there is too much fun and chat, and not enough serious and technical chat really demands that the more serious minded get opening more threads. Or am I wrong ? Rog

If they have something to say or need advice, surely they can start a new thread.🤔 Uncle Dunkle has said in the past that this place just isn't boaty enough, well to me that says that he(& others who think the same)are in the wrong place & perhaps need to start a sensible, boaty group of their own. I am but a six foot chicken, noddy boater with a purply haired friend...but I like it here.If it's not your cup of tea,do one/bog off/take a hike etc & leave those of us who enjoy being here-to carry on.

I think I see whose gone again... I hope he reincarnates soon.. OK so we have some naff threads on here, lot of repetition etc.. on the whole most of us I reckon are an ok bunch with bit of in house petty squabbling... Chill, relax Obviously there is one deep routed grievance that will not rest.... Granny Gladys's would fit right in here..really human nature does not change.
