Signs on the M6 saying no diesel for cars at Moto Rugby, the new services. Guess they are keeping it for the HGV's, and you think you are hard done by, Pah! I dont think they share the same tanks, or do they? The pumps are different. Bigger nozzle i think, but you can bet people will still try to use them and piss diesel everywhere..

I dont think they share the same tanks, or do they? The pumps are different. Certainly motorway service areas have separate tanks for HGV fuel. The pumps are also different, they are high speed pumps and dispense about 150 litres a minute as compared to 30-40 litres per minute for car pumps. They have larger diameter nozzles too, a car pump nozzle is about the size of a 10p coin whereas a truck pump nozzle is about the size of a £2 coin. Because of this, an HGV pump nozzle will not fit into the neck of a car tank filler neck but that doesn't stop people trying. One of the more amusing sights to behold as a truck driver is a self-important businessman in a smart suit deciding he is too important to queue for fuel so will use the pumps clearly marked "HGV Only" in his Audi/ BMW/ Range Rover etc. The nozzle will not go into the filler neck and will not open the non-return flap in the neck, but not to be daunted he will then squeeze the trigger firmly anyway whereupon a quarter of a litre of diesel will blast backwards all over his £1,500 suit. Then to add insult to injury, while stinking like a fairground ride generator he will have to queue up at the counter to pay for the 25p worth of diesel he managed to dispense before the auto shut off kicked in.

Separate tanks at all the stations that did hgv I worked in.
The overhead gantry this morning said A34 South was hgv only but there were cars filling as I passed.
Seen quite a few garages operating normally today, I'm also having a bit of a argument on FB. Too many people posting about what garage have fuel or asking.
I've polity said that it's not tge media fueling this but these stupid posts creating demand at garages.
They think they are being helpful. But if everyone stopped, I bet it would be almost back to normal come tomorrow.

I queueued for about 4 minutes at a Texaco in inner east London around midday today. They claimed to have no diesel although I did see some diesel vans filling up. My car is petrol. £35 it was nearly empty. To cap it off there was a very pleasant woman behind the counter with a lovely smile so it was a good experience.
So it's not the end of the world just yet, which is good.

Daughter has enough to fetch me but as she used it for work the last couple of days after filling up....we may be short on the way home. Told her to fill en route if she can... cos I wanna go home....
