It's basic linguistics.
If you say "you are a cock" the word is not effective. It's short, starts and ends the same and has an o like 'clock".
If you said "you are a scum rat" it could work but the "a" lightens the tone and reduces the impact.
There are very few words as effective as the one one is not going to write at this stage.
Linguistically it just works. I would challenge anyone to find another word which is as effective. "Fuck" is good but not as hard. I'm not sure why "funk" doesn't work but sometimes it is best to let sleeping dogs lie.

But apart from all that, I was pretty horrific that a serving policeman used his position to abduct and kill Sarah. But then again unfortunately bad things happen. Would it have been better or worse if the victim had been male and the perpetrator not a policeman? Not sure, but for sure the outcome for the victim is the same. Dead. Perhaps a dead female is a worse outcome than a dead male?

I know you'll say it's just a word, but I really hate the 'c' word.I can eff & blind with the best of them, but that word just seems so insulting to wimmin. Don't need the posts of how it's just a word-I just do not like it !π‘ I guess this is a thread title that won't get changed. Shame.
It seems that there is a wider thought that the c word is worse than others given that it seems to be about the only word that is never broadcast on tv.
I know that there are forum members who like to spend their whole time winding up other forum members, and on some levels there is nothing wrong with that, even if it does get tiresome at times.
Using the c word because you can, even when you know that other forum members find it offensive, is needless and IMO devalues you as a poster.

I think calling someone a "scum runt" works quite well on a linguistic level. Shame there is not some sort of combination.
I like the word scum. It's a good one and I think I shall encourage the children to use it as an alternative to the other one.
It's not as effective though as it has not got the hard ending. Open to interpretation. Close it with a T and it is dealt with.

Believe it or not, I, too, abhor this "women are sacred and need special treatment" thing....

Sadly it is a symptom of a forum which does not have enough regular contributors who do things like start threads and add useful commentary. Mostly about boaty type things.
It's bound to happen. Guilty as charged etc.

. Believe it or not, I, too, abhor this "women are sacred and need special treatment" thing.... Well you did post this earlier on to be fair, I truly think we are wasting our time, Trina - this is no longer a boating forum but a platform for a few nasty men to pose and vent... Truly despicable in the light of what happened to Sarah...let's have a laugh, eh??! I'm not sure how much more divisive you want to get between the genders here.

I was adducted by a woman. It resulted in the generation of small parts. I'm still getting therapy for the PTSD about it..

Hate the βCβ word. Very rarely I hear it used to be honest. Canβt say itβs a word often used by any of my friends or family. This pleases me.

The Taliban think allowing girls to attend school is offensive. Should we go along with them just to avoid an argument and to avoid being devalued? Anyway I have avoided using that word since its offence-causing potential was pointed out to me, but that does make me feel a bit uncomfortable. Why do some people have the right to define words that we mustnβt use, whilst other donβt?

That's nice. I wish I had that life. And that car!
The car is wicked. I had pictures of these S7, Dax Rush etc on my bedroom wall when I was a teenager.
Wicked cars !!
