Ahoy!
I have recently bought a 1965 Ormelite cruiser, centre cockpit. Fibreglass hull, wooden superstructure. Original Stuart Turner engine. I’ve lusted after her from down the riverbank for at least 10 years and finally she’s mine, all mine!
I already live aboard on a wide beam and this boat is to be my labour of love. I’ve joined the forum to find out as much as I can about Ormelites. I see a few members have/have had Ormelites and I’m hoping to connect with them and gain some of their valuable knowledge.
Nice to be here!

I'm sure they will be along soon.
Welcome aboard the good ship TB.
It's a funny old place, there is no moderation so be warned that things can get out of hand.
Don't worry if your called a twat, it's a good thing here.
There is a wealth of knowledge that can help.
Have a look around the forum and get used to it, join in and have fun.

Welcome aboard! JohnV is an Ormelite owner, his boat is called Shapfell, I’ve done my fair share on an aft Cockpit type called Northern Star. Both boats are no longer powered by the old P55M - hiow are you getting on with your Stuart? The Stuarts are a lovely old thing but very long in the tooth now.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, it’s nice to see so many enthusiasts in one place.
The old Stuart started second try after being left for at least 2 years. Everything seems to be in good order with the engine so far. I haven’t cruised her yet, merely put her into gear to see whether she’ll move under her own steam. All good there. Would like to keep it ideally and keep her as original as possible.
The sea toilet is another matter, cannot even fathom how that thing works! The seals have gone in the chrome hand pump and then there’s a foot pedal for getting rid of the, ahem, loo contents.. that’s going to be a smelly learning curve!

BTW Rusty is only jealous they have to carry their turds everywhere with them 🤪🤣

There is a baby blake on Facebook at the moment for about 400 quid.

Evening *0rmeliteeve as Gazza has said I have an Ormelite Wanderer (centre cockpit) slightly later than yours, it has a GRP top rather than the wood of the earlier ones, You might be interested in this sabrinaswan.blogspot.com/2007/06/It's about an even earlier all wooden version. There was an Ormelite owners web site but the owner changed platforms and something happened to him immediately after the change (I never found out what)and unfortunately all the stored archive was lost, which was very unfortunate because it also contained a lot of early photographs supplied by the Orme familly My "Shapfell" had been fitted with a 2cyl Vetus diesel before I bought it, slightly lower power than the original petrol (I believe a Ford rather than the Stuart Turner) but gives adequate performance. I have done quite a lot of exploring in her, they are an excellent little boat for single hand exploring the waterways. As regards your comment about the sea toilet, There is no evidence that Shapfell was ever fitted with a sea toilet, I suspect she had a Porta Potty (or the 'orrible chemical toilet forerunner)from new .... so with that I can't help but I suspect what you are describing is one of the old Wortham Blake sea toilets. As has been said this place can be ...... lively ? rumbustuous ? bloody rude sometimes but can also be a source of a lot of help should you ever be in dire need and information on just about anything boaty ...... welcome aboard

Ah yes but I think it is just the lid seal on ours, which are replaceable. The flusher itself is a huge Henderson MkV bilge pump which has a one way valve that tends to get infested with limescale every few years. God, this thread turned to crappers real quick.

that's what they reckon when boaters gather ...... cassette or pumpout but here with the addition of sea toilet (so far we haven't had anyone turn up with a tin bucket and a wooden toilet seat yet )
