Thanks to Cygnus for bringing it to my attention (inadvertantly I suspect, on another site)

You need an engine/gearbox in good nick for tidal waters and a good anchor and the knowledge to use it correctly.
Firstly a damn good flog of the engine while tied up to make sure it's up to scratch and a mud weight (and the knowledge how to use it and the tide) for when all else fails

agree, if you are used to tidal areas, it's something you know can happen and you do all you can to make sure it doesn't but are prepared for the eventuality.
We used to say at Benfleet that if you've never been on the putty, you've never been out enough

Well I wonβt be watching the follow up... think some people need to live more exciting lives.

I wonder what he would have named it if it had actually been a disaster rather than a PITA I was waiting for the mass drowning event. To be honest, Iβd imagine watching this will quell Rogers distrust of NBs on rivers.

It would have felt like a near disaster to me.
Ihad enough problems on the HBC and that isn't tidal.

I never watch these YouTube things.
I was told that watching videos on YouTube has become quite common lately.
Not sure what the appeal is but I suppose related to being able to watch things you like. And the tailored adverts must help too.
I do watch some music mainly for the listening as have no stored music anywhere but other than that no videos.
Also I was listening to the radio earlier and they were going on about Facebook and algorithms and news feeds.
What is a news feed? I've never noticed this option. Surely the best way to avoid the hazards associated with news feeds is to just not have a news feed.
What the hell is wrong with people?

I was living every minute of it with him poor fella. I'm with Rog when it comes to Tidal... I don't mind normal rivers but even on them, I happy to get off as soon as possible. That time we went up from Selby to Ripon scared the pants off me.

Not sure what the appeal is but I suppose related to being able to watch things you like. And the tailored adverts must help too. Well, for example I watched a YouTube video the other week which was a tutorial showing how to access and clean the oil strainer on the Honda CBF125 which I then did on Red Marauder. As the time I didn't have a Haynes manual, which I do have now, but even so it's more helpful to watch it being done than to read how to do it with just a few grainy black and white photos as illustration. There are a few YouTubers whose channels I follow, mainly covering quirky historic and geographical stories, true crime etc, the sort of thing not really covered on mainstream TV. Jago Hazzard, Tom Scott, Jay Foreman and Qxir are a few.

A bit crazy that both boats had engine issues. I have to say I'm intrigued to know what the root cause on each boat was. Let this be the point of suspense... Watching things like this make me wish I had a folding dinghy wot you hoick about on the roof rack...the Trent would be a lark (maybe not in winter though).

I never watch these YouTube things. there is some terrible garbage out there ...... like most sources you need to watch everything with a good deal of scepticism.
There is so much fake news and conspiracy theories around that you have to be always aware that you are looking into a severely polluted pool.
