One of my kayaks at the London residence is half submerged. While this is not a particular problem for me I did notice that today during my absence a coot climbed up onto the non submerged part and died.
Unfortunately I poked it away with the shaft and lacked the prescience to take a photo.
Is this a sign?
Impending doom was the first thought.

Shame it would have made a fine entry to the photo competition.

I will go and see if it's still there but it won't be entirely original as I will have posed it.
I suppose it's better than accidentally shooting someone on a film set ?

Saw a ewe that had fallen in and drowned today, you would think farmer would have fenced the field, even electric fencing, as that is quite a loss. Sad end.

They go in all the time at the ranch.
No fencing as it's a footpath beside the Thames.
Earlier in the year there was a ewe in there and the very little lamb obviously followed her in. Lamb died ewe was dragged out by the farmer after I informed them.
I picked the little lamb up and threw it to them. It was tiny only about 18 inches long but really heavy and rigor had already started.
Always good to get them out as they end up being a nasty nuisance if left to bloat.
Did also manage to extricate a lamb from a watery death at 2 in the morning.
Pretty sure the farmers just see the ££ signs and the potential punishment from the EA if they pollute the waterway with carcasses.

For a brief moment I thought this was going to be about restaurants that don't use plates.

For a brief moment I thought this was going to be about restaurants that don't use plates. Are you willing to be a seed investor in my new inner London busines venture? You would not believe the number of coots about. We are talking dozens per square whatever. A lot of them.

That's an interesting solution.
