As the UK becomes an ever increasing Multi Cultural society with numerous religions all vying for recognition, Is Christianity in this country now finding itself in the same position as Pagan religions did when Christianity first came to Britain?
Christianity first stiffled then crushed Britains ancient religions, destroying scared areas then building churches upon the sites, taking over Pagan festivals and relaunching them as Christian festivals.
Now we see falling attendences at Church. Churches closing and being turned into other 'faiths' places of worship. Christian festivals, losing their alleged true meaning and just becoming commercial holidays.
What future is there for a tired Middle Eastern religion with outdated dogma for Modern britain?

He he. Well done for getting this area started.
From what I've heard, give it a few more years and Islam will be the most prevalent religion in the country. So, maybe it will turn out that one religion will just take over from another.
From the people I've met and spoken to, there still seems to be a lot of faith out there but in a quiet simple way rather than following a main stream religion.
It's like most things in life, you can find a bit of good and bad in everything.

It does seem to be the battle of the Abrahamic religions, both having the same God and both being a religion that wants to convert others to its doctrine and both with a sordid history.
As you say, good and bad in evrything, I also wonder in what way Science has had an effect on Christianity

Well the cliche answer is that science tries to explain the how's and religion/phylosophy the why's. Like, God sends us the rainbow to remind us he promises never to destroy us ever again. Sceince says thats bollox, its just a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets.

I personally think that the Church of England for example attempts to be all inclusive and the message of god if you like becomes diluted by that.I think they struggle for relevance and go for an all inclusive policy to remedy that and by and large it doesn't work.

I think its internal struggles dont help. There are those who cling to the Bibles 2000yr old dogma to the letter and others who try and update their doctrines for the 21century. Either way they still cant agree over Gay marriage or Women Ministers and so you end up with sects within sects all pulling and pushing against each other for what they believe is right. This I think is a problem for most of the protestant churches. What they need is a single God Bod. Like the Catholics, one top johnny telling them this is what God wants so get on with it. The Protestant Churches need a Lord of the Rings. One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them Either that or they finally admit its all been a big con all along. Just a cunning plan by Rome in its dying days to try and hold its world together.

One is a why, the other is a how...

I'm not sure the Abrahamic God is keen on co-existance, He/She wont even allow the Gods of other religions a look in. He insists on having no other God but him, does that mean he ackowledges the other Gods exist but being a bully and a narcissist he wants all the glory for himself. Would he allow Science to co-exist?
