He wants to nail a bit of driftwood to the wall. But the conception is to do it using hidden fixings (as opposed to just bolting through) which presents a few minor difficulties. The game is to get it on straight or it will look a bit crap. Don't lose any sleep. The driftwood I've acquired on my wanderings Ive used to repair dads old bench... I need to find some more as the back section needs replacing. My aim is to totally rebuild the bench bit by bit

I went for 10mmm threaded rod in the end. I started drilling the wall with trepidation, some of the stone in this house is granite but my luck was in, I hit shale with both holes. It's now secured with gripfill, solid as a rock, nice and level. Finished in clear wax it looks great and really finishes off the room. I'd post pictures but several years after joining this site, I still don't know how to.

Where did you get the trepidation, is it easier than using a masonry drill? Can you get it in bulk? There is a pic of your house in the latest Caravan and Motorhome Magazine btw. Will post a pic later.

I give up very easily with anything related to technology.

I use imgbb. You upload your image then choose the "bbcode full linked" tag below it then copy and paste that to here.

The thing is, even 'upload image' baffles me. I'm happy to spend all day thinking how I can make two pieces of wood or metal interact properly but if there's anything I don't understand as regards technology (which is a lot; most things) I have no patience to try to understand it. It took me more than 2 years to work how how to get internet on my laptop via a hotspot. 'Technology for dummies' is well beyond my pay scale, I'm afraid.

To be fair it does not take a vast wealth of imagination to work out what a piece of driftwood looks like with a wall behind it. As Jim suggested, it was the trepidation we are most interested in.

Thats the joy of tapatalk though, just click the image button, choose image, tapatalk does the rest.

Oh I dunno.. I want to see if its straight... It's a strange one. Depending on where you view it from it can look other than straight but the spirit level confirms it to be bang on.
