My mum had the canopy top one and I had the flat one on one of the boats. They arrr good but I don"t like having glass on a stove. it's a weakness. The canopy one did 12 winters on her narrow boat. 6 inch flue pipe you could run it with doors open which was nice. Needed extra bricks to make firebox smaller otherwise it got too hot. I must admit ive replaced the glass with steel on my double door Hunter. I think having an old engine rigid mounted on a boat doesn’t help stove glass. I was looking for a villager when I bought this one, it’s its 13 winter now so it’s done alright although I don’t consider it as good quality as a villager. It was too much of a bargain to resist.

Yes a Villager. I don't like it. Part of me wishes for it to crack so I can get something less feminine. I replaced my villager with an old Pelgrim stove which is a Dutch make. Bought it from some random dealer in Hertfordshire. Never seen another one until now actually, and it's the same people selling it ! If you want a good stove I can recommend this. My Pelgrim, which is a bit different, has been the primary heat source for the barge for about 8 years. Brilliant bit of design language and they really work. Flue outlet might be a bit high though. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203731939492Bizarre coincidence as I just looked up "Deville lily" as I think that would be nice and is a French stove and it turned up this Pelgrim, which is actually a Dutch stove! And it's the same people I bought mine from all those years ago. I have not seen another one in the UK although there was a Bekt and Dyserinck one a while ago which is quite similar. They know how to make a good stove those Dutch characters. A bit like the boats. I really do like a fire which is easy to load. This one is really nicely sorted out with that angled loading door. Excellent. Mine has a top loading lid and a door but the door is vertical so not as good as that one.

I reckon that layout with the stove, the non symmetrical clearance of the plaster and the wooden beam is pretty interesting psychology.
You could have a dream about this.
A couple of nights ago I had a dream about a massive power station meltdown and it was spewing black smoke everywhere some of it with sparks in, the smoke descended on us and we could hardly breathe. Then it suddenly turned out to be a sunny day.
Maybe just a Christmas dream.
And I'm like "ecofans don't do anything !"

It's no longer functioning but yes I did go to an in person MI6 conference "in the area" that day, as it happens.
It could have been this which triggered the dream situation. I was de-briefed by a couple of high grade professional ladies after the meeting but to be fair they may have missed something.

I reckon that layout with the stove, the non symmetrical clearance of the plaster and the wooden beam is pretty interesting psychology. Nothing about this house is symmetrical. 'Downstairs' is on three different levels. This takes some getting used to when having consumed copious amounts of beer. The bedroom 'upstairs' is large but you can only stand up in the middle of it. Most of the walls have lovely curves, rather than being the more usual straight. It seems that most of the plastering was done when the plasterer was, well, plastered.
