I'm in the Caversham - Sonning reach and just noticed red boards gone up on the website for this bit. That will be the Kennet I guess. . Only lock that bothers me is Marsh lock as the weir is right near the lock. Other ones there are useful lock cuts.
Very misty here.
Also a few red boards been put up around Oxford.
Hmm. About 3.5 hours to get back to the ranch that's a bit tight for daylight.

At least at Marsh going upstream the Weir pushes you onto the solid bank and not onto a set of dolphins π€

Up is ok but down not ideal. If I do it today should be ok but may be red tomorrow and it's got a hell of a pull on it. Marsh is a gauging weir.

Marsh now on red and a lot of tackle up on the weir.i saw the keeper I think he just pulled a couple of the big gates before I got there.
Managed ok as usual. Hambleden is less of a concern due to lock and weir layout.
Red boards through Henley. Don't think I've done that since the 90s!
Marsh is a really nice Weir as it has vertical gates all the same size and no overspill. A very tidy setup there.
Not as pretty as the bigger ones like Hambleden and Marlow but technically pretty nice for water management.

Grafton Road = 6 courses down from the top of the square arch. Behind the old folks apartments at Harpers Court= 3 courses down from the bottom of the arch on the right. (This bridge has only recently been reopened to pedestrians after a good amount of it fell in to Harpers Brook earlier in the year) A notable Saxon Church on a manky Boxing Day Afternoon.

New camera for Christmas? No, incredibly they are off my iPhone - and to think how far we have come on 20 odd years of digital photography!

I will admit that one of the reasons I chose my phone was for the camera, best bit is when held in portrait mode it films video in landscape π What's the "normal" level on the square culvert

I don't engage with Apple products but I know they did make a big effort with regards to the camera function.
The conspiracy theorist would say "try to get people to take their phones with them for reasons other than calling people".
Nokia are another company who used good optics. I remember my N95 slide phone. That had a seriously good camera. Carl Zeiss no less.

I didnβt get a choice what phone I had, cast off from my now retired boss, filling his boots meant I was given his 12 - with it came a new number and someone else picking up the bill - which is nice π

I couldnβt care less tbh, Iβve never understood the Android v Apple thing, I was quite happy with my previous non smartphone. Promotion meant an iPhone was given to me rather than mine by choice; not that I am complaining!

One course drop on the culvert bridge on Grafton Road, up and down like a whoresβ draws.
Word back from Peterborough that all is well with the boats - which is nice ππ»
