Yeh, guests can view stuff but they can't post. Can't normally view the member list, can't normally see who is online, some other limited functionality normally.

I think it's funny I'm sure plenty are lurking. Yesterday Chagall mentioned he had a link to here on his CWDF profile and minutes later it was removed by Lady Cassandra, so I think we can be sure she is peeking.

The stats are showing 1 Staff member, 27 Members and 108 Guests in the last 24 hours so the guests are way outnumbering the rest. We can't tell whether they are from the other place or are fluffy bunnies of course. Roger

I actually am beginning to feel a bit deceitful now, so I will confess, I'm not a bloke but female. I haven't marked my gender as so because I dont really feel either masculine or feminine and its of those things that I believe doesn't really matter. Some girls like to be girly and prefer to be treated so, I never have but neither do I wish to be blokey. I suppose that makes me gender neutral. Anyway, not wanting to turn this into a whole odd subject but I just felt now was the time to come out ...so to speak! I need a lie down and a large gin

I used to read the 'Ozzie Saffa' blog as I was interested in how things are going in South Africa. A year or so ago the author announced that would be the end of the blog and she announced that she was female - which made my, and I'm sure, everyone else's jaws drop. You can't always tell. I liked the style of writing. The blog would probably be described by some as 'racist' but, there you go, I read the bits that interest me. But she does bring up one important issue time after time - where are all the 'anti-racists' when it comes to the genocide of the white South Africans? The blog is still going, although at a much slower output. The old pages are still available. Like it or not, 'Apartheid' kept things in order, and South Africa as a fairly wealthy country. Now Mandela's thugs (the ANC) are running the circus (stealing everything!).... well, go to www.oanda.com's currency converter to see how the Rand has dropped - just staggering. Another Zimbabwe coming up. I'm sure there were many nasty white people during Apartheid, using the black population as slaves/cheap workers (much the same kind of thing can be seen in Britain these days! Eh, ex-steel workers?), and I am against unfairness in all forms (I think!) - what is annoying is all the demonstrators who preach about the joys of 'diversity' and the 'benefits' of Multiculturalim - just walk away when the whites over there are getting horribly tortured and brutally murdered. Are people aware that the white South Africans are trying to get their kids out as fast as they can? Has anybody noticed there are more and more South Africans in Britain (or is it just me?)?

That's an odd post Foxy........South Africa during apartheid was not a nice place, not a nice place at all. The system was cruel and desperately unfair and it made the whole atmosphere reek. I visited it many times and there was a feeling of fear both from both blacks and whites. The first for what the present held and the latter for what they feared the future would bring. Things may be bad now but they are far less so, than what was feared by the Afrikaaners. It was fear that caused so much of the evil of those days

I stand to be corrected - I only know what I hear and read. Is it true, that white folk in South Africa are being denied jobs these days, such as pilots for South African Airways?
"A spokesperson for South African Airways told Beeld, an Afrikaans-language daily newspaper, that whites will only be hired once efforts to find applicants of other races are exhausted."
"Pilots may not be the only victims of SAA's policies. When the airline had to select a new boss last summer — its fifth in as many years — Nico Bezuidenhout, an experienced white airline executive, was among the front-runners. He lost out to Monwabisi Kalawe, a black executive with no prior experience in the industry. One year on, Mr Kalawe is reportedly being investigated over four allegations of impropriety; the airline insists he has done nothing untoward. Most South Africans simply want their flag carrier to be run by a competent, experienced manager. Likewise, most passengers simply want a competent, experienced pilot to land them safely on the ground. Skin colour should be a non-issue."
Sorry, it's just that I get a bit annoyed at that sort of thing. I must really cross it off my list, and remember that this forum is about boats and waterways. It's just that we visited South Africa and I thought it would be so nice to see it get better as a country, rather than be dragged down. They should really have kept many of their steam engines, as those would have brought in the tourist Dollars. Finland is also going downhill - Moomin cups now made in Thailand ('designed' in Finland - hollow laugh), roads deteriorating.

Foxy, don't get me wrong. I am not supporting what is happening in SA with regard to discrimination. what I meant was there was genuine fear of extreme violence , of massacres of the white population. In effect an immediate disintegration of society into mob rule. This is not what happened, in some ways it is remarkable that it has not been worse considering the level of violence that was used by the SA "justice" system for so many years and the level of.......what can only be described as genocide of bushmen in the Southwest.
