So what .... you either play by the rules or fuck off ..... that is the way things should be run.
and it's not hollow or meaningless .... it means that someone who breaks the rules can't win
However important they think they are
It will definitely be hollow and meaningless to any eventual winner, knowing they did not beat the best. Let's keep to reality. Lets keep it to reality .... top tennis players are in it for the money and very little else

The problem for him is Victoria & Melbourne have been under quite stringent restrictions because of COVID for a very long time. Rightly or wrongly the way Novak appears to think because Tennis Australia & Victoria said it was OK not to be vaccinated to play, he could then enter into Australia on the same exemption, however the federal Govt has far more stringent restrictions in place, international arrivals are subject to federal laws, not state laws until after they have cleared immigration & customs. If he was smart he would pick up his marbles & go home, if he wins his appeal & appears on the tennis court the vocal Australian public will undoubtedly give him such a "shit canning" he wouldn't believe possible. Regardless of what we may believe is right or wrong, the way Novak's team has handled this is just not cricket

NJ is not “the best” if he can’t even organise himself so he actually turns up for the contest. He is in fact “the twatiest”. How about if he got the flu and was too ill to compete? Or twisted his ankly, or hurt his delicate little armywarmy? Would a victory against him still be hollow because he said “I am the bestest in the world and I would have won were it not for my runny nose/ anklywankly/ twistywristy. So I DID win really, doesn’t matter that I didn’t play! Anyone who says otherwise is being SO UNFAIR <stamps good foot, pouts and a little tear appears> Yea right, the real world is deffo like that!

I didn't know Ivanisovich was his coach. His win in 95 (?) at Wimbledon was the best final ever.

Nick, you're full of shit. You make up all sorts of crap in order to win your silly games. I doubt I'm the only one who notices this. Tedious.

Fails to come up with any sort of cogent reply, instead true to type resorts to personal attack. If only this was a video forum we’d be able to see the pouting, foot stamping and teary eyes.

I'm not a tennis fan but it seems that the player was invited and approved to participate in the competition by the local organisers and state ... to allow him to arrive in the country before raising objections nationally seems very amateurish and unfair on the player.

I expect they will, and I expect too that the eventual winner of the 2022 Australian Open will know that he has won a very hollow and meaningless victory. Not at all. It will be a victory over an arrogant selfish conspiracy theory nutter who thinks he’s above the law just because he can bat a bouncy ball around quite well. A very rewarding victory for common sense and natural justice. Declining to have forced medication with an unproven vaccine mandated by the State does not make someone a "conspiracy theorist" or "a nutter". This applies to anyone but professional sports players have always been very particular about what they do or do not put into their bodies. As I said, in his case I would just walk away and make this year's Australian Open the tennis equivalent of "The Grand National that never was".

And that's exactly what happened it seems. The public went to uproar, and the authorities responded accordingly. Over here, we have Nick and John going into meltdowns.

Rog It's called trial by mob. Same thing goes on anywhere you can air your opinion...

It's not just ND though. They have spent the last 2 years letting celebrities go in and out of the country while locking down ordinary citizens. I am surprised there hasn't been this backlash before.
I just wish they had prevented the England cricket team from entering the country.
