Have to replace the current one with the spare and want to order a new spare.
Spare has the following info on it;
618 2 11052011 85 in small print (number 85 goes up to 89 but with all proceeding numbers the same)
Contitech 6 PK 1090 in large print.
What are the details that would help me track down the correct new spare belt. Please.

That is a bit of a bugger - current replacement sized belt is the wrong size. Never mind - time to put everything back together and see what I can sort tomorrow.

6pk 1090 is what we have for our travel power on Beta 43. What does it say on the one you’ve just taken off?

Nothing that is makw outable... 6PK seems to be right but the length is wrong - was a bit concerned when the belt fitted straight over the pulleys with over an inch to spare, alternator thingy can't take up that amount of adjustment.

Well you can just work out how much shorter the belt needs to be in mm, take that of the 1090 and find the closest available size. Eg you can get 1075, 1059 or 1037

Cut the knackered one. Put the alternator over as close to the engine as possible. Wrap the cut belt around the pulleys and measure how much the overlap is. Then measure the whole belt and subtract the overlap. Voila, the size you need is the nearest to that.

Nope! I'm a mere idiot I trust others... Is this a spare belt you've had kicking around under the steps, one that came with the boat? Rubber hardens after around 7 years. You'll just have to measure the one that in on there now, and see what the next sizes down are and try and work out which one of those is most suitable. Foxy's Top Tip: if it says Made in PRC/China on the packet, go and look for one that isn't. The replacement says made in Germany - make of that what you want...
Tis only the Travel Power belt - I'm sure the washing will benefit from an additional day or two's soak... Note to self - you might want to keep an eye on those belts before they get so bad they shred themselves......

We had three spare alternator belts of the right size (one brand new, one the previous one, and one a bit older), and never had a problem with the belt. So ... not a massive twat. Twattiest twatty twat ever.
