True. Another burden I'm afraid. One can not alter facts. There's only one thing worse than being a twat, and that's being a Northern twat.

This is quite fascinating: From a Russian perspective Ukraine was a part of Russia for centuries. By the same logic, India was part of Great Britain for centuries. Anyway nah, British rule of India lasted less than 100 years whereas present-day Ukraine was indisputably Russian territory for around four centuries until 1991.

It seems that the USA made a promise in 1991 to the Russian administration that it wouldn't attempt any territorial gains in the face of Russian withdrawal from former soviets, which is sort of amusing when you consider how many are now part of NATO. So it's perhaps unsurprising that Putin is a tad humpty that Ukraine is lined up as the next candidate.
The acronym 'NATO' is central to one of Frankie Boyle's favourite jokes which refers to a Scottish person who is missing parts of his feet.

What were you serving? Breakfast? I was in Special Operations. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but I was the first onto the balcony during the Iranian Embassy siege. Naw that was Bob

The term Great Britain was first used officially in 1474, in the instrument drawing up the proposal for a marriage between Cecily, daughter of Edward IV of England, and James, son of James III of Scotland, which described it as "this Nobill Isle, callit Gret Britanee". This sounds like a political situation to me, all royal weddings where political arrangements. Anyway I’ll leave you imperialists to keep thinking you live in Great Britain. I’ve got some bad news for you, we don’t have an empire anymore. You may note that it said "this noble isle". Great Britain is the name of the island we live on, which is broken down into three countries.

Yes the isle of Wight is considered a part of of England and Great Britain, much like the isle of Skye and Anglesea are also considered a part of Great Britain. Even most of Portsmouth is aw well.

Shirley, the British Isles is a more accurate description. Certainly no longer great, despite Nige and his mates' ambitions.

It’s still great, but the sad fact is the number of twats like yourself are increasing within the population. Thankfully we have witnessed that you are outnumbered by people with some common sense, and long may that continue.

Shirley, the British Isles is a more accurate description. Certainly no longer great, despite Nige and his mates' ambitions. The 'Great' part is a reference to geographical fact, not political agenda, and the term existed (as has been demonstrated earlier by internet scholars) far in advance of any notion of empire. Incidentally Wordsworth used reference to geography and landscape as a form of subversion to subtly contrast and highlight nationalist politics. Just thought I'd chuck that into the mix.
