I have search far and wide to find an equivalent to a HOF 289 oil filter on a generator engine I am servicing for a lady. I think the base engine is a Mitsubishi S3L about 14 years old. I thought it would be easy seeing as it has a filter still in place but Halfords are no help either.

Surely HOF is a Hellfrauds reference number in the first place.
It'll be somewhere on the shelf if they have it..
HOF stands for Halfords Oil Filter.

Suppose you've already tried Inlinefilters?
Edit - your signal is better than mine!!!

They do lubes, fuel and air and offer a good reference facility.... I use their equivalent air and fuel filters but the lube one they insist is correct has the wrong thread.

I meant the jd post. In the link it says filters-air.
I'm sure they are a useful supplier but was simply pointing out an anomaly.

Do they have a HOF (Halfords) cross reference available?
The OP was asking about a HOF289.
Seeing as he works for HM gov I reckon he will have done his due diligence ref the internet search thing.
I feel that an inspection of a shelf at a Halfords store could bear fruit here.

I fail to understand what relevance your "servicing for a lady" has to bear on the search for an oil filter?

Then again, if I were a member of the aristocracy I suppose I wouldn't expect to get my hands dirty, either ....
