Expressing views that one believes the covid bollocks may not be all that genuine makes you a conspiracy theorist.
It's not a valid exchange of views when one side of the argument is wrong.
Having this sort of view makes you a conspiracy theorist and what's more a heretic and you shall be burned at the stake.

I consider that the freedom to post whatever one wishes is a strength of thunderboat , not a weakness. Although there are opposing views on Covid, Telly MuckArse obviously feels that only one side of the debate should be allowed and that contrarian views should presumably be controlled and/or deleted by the site owner, and in view of this I can't help feeling that the Canal World Discussion Forum might be more to Telly's liking.

I suspect this forum mirrors real life at present. I had a very bad fall out recently, with a good friend. All about covid. Many people cannot let go of the pandemic and move on. I can see why someone might get bored with hearing the same old stories here.

6 Nations begins Saturday ... always lifts my spirits as much as seeing my first snowdrops or lambs Rog Not a big fan of the oval ball game. Love watching the six nations though, always great occasions. For some reason, that I can’t explain, I always cheer the French on. I think it’s part due to the way they tend to play, and part due to some part of my body that loves the French.

I'll forgive you ... they are developing an exciting squad ready for next year's RWC which they will host.

Yes I am spending more time over there these days. On you point about contrarian views, of course I support rational debate and certainly don’t expect the opposition to always agree or would I wish to silence them. The problem comes when one side is not rational and is promoting false information, such as that Covid is (or was) not a serious illness badly affecting hundreds of thousands of people, that the vaccine is more dangerous than the illness, or that there is some kind of international conspiracy by every government worldwide, to somehow use an invented pandemic and vaccine to subjugate ordinary people (always accepting that they may not realise it is false or a conspiracy theory, they may well fully believe it). It is identical to trying to debate religion with one of our gliding club members who, despite being quite young and and having a PhD in aeronautical engineering, is a creationist and is absolutely certain that everything in the bible is correct, including that the earth was created in 7 days a few thousand years ago. Although of course in his case, the promotion of his views aren’t potentially damaging to other people.

Have you introduced the geyser at the flying club to the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Forget god and creation that's all a hoax. The reality is that it is a pasta thing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_MonsterI usually like to explain to these sorts of people that the world never started and it will never end. It's impossibile for either of these things to occur. Humans are fundamentally bound by the biological lifeform which has a finite existence. Therefore everything must be finite. However that isn't and can not be the case. It's amazing how limiting the human brain is in this regard.

6 Nations begins Saturday ... always lifts my spirits as much as seeing my first snowdrops or lambs Rog 6 Nations has largely been irrelevant for me for the last 2 years - bloody covid! As for snowdrops - saw my first clump at PYC on Sunday -first signs of spring drawing closer and boat related too!
