"unforeseen circumstances within our workshops"
Is this a polite way of saying something slightly rude like "due to a fuckup" ?

I know of many (including a couple of proper working boats) who went through some horrific weather to beat the original deadline of 7th Feb - it has taken CRT a whole week after the proposed "closure" to tell us it's not actually closed.... Much like the fiasco at the aqueduct beyond Middlewich in November - they announced it wasn't going to happen on the day it was due to re-open!
Even more worrying about the unmade lock gates..... don't they need seasoning... wasn't this planned over a year ago..?
Honestly, where is the "management" in all of this?

Joking aside, I had the foresight (and means) to stock up with fuel for the foreseeable - but there are lots of moorers along that stretch of the infamous "Four Counties", never mind those whose livelihoods are based around supplying them, who will be seriously impacted by this.
"Apologies for any inconvenience" doesn't quite cut it in these instances.

Yet again, many sincere thanks are due to the "men on the ground" after today's fiasco .... You'll be lucky if you manage to get through there this year Trina - will be amazed if we don't see a few "emergency stoppages" once the season begins. (Gave Billy a two minute silence, a nod and a smile today x - but we might have to agree to disagree as my cat Joe was the best ever )

Apologies, Isambard Kingdom Brunel - I didn't realise until the edit that you were out on special ops ... sorry, I've been away from the Wardle for too long now!

Fuelled up today at a hire base. Enquired about one of their fleet out last week. The one they got called out to reverse over a mile and half through two locks....
"Oh, so it was you - they said someone told them they wouldn't get through".
Apparently CRT confirmed the lock was open, closing on the 28th; after having to refund hirer and a follow up call, CRT suggested the engineers might have "jumped the gun"....
