I thought I would start a thread explaining how to use this forum to take advantage of the available features. I hope others will feel free to chip in and maybe we can get some useful information all in one place.
I'll begin with how to change the page color scheme, for those who want to view dark type on a white page:
Click on "Profile" on the top of any page.
Click on "Edit Profile" - top right of the first big box on the page.
Click "Settings" tab under "Edit Profile & Settings" - up at the top of the page.
Scroll down to "Forum Theme".
From the drop down box just beneath "Forum Theme" select "Light".
Scroll down further and click "Save Account Settings".
Viola - You are now black and blue on white.
For those who like to view the forum the same way you did with the "View New Content" selection on cwdf, up at the top of each page, in the bar with the Thunderboat logo, it says "Recently Updated". Clicking that will bring up an index page just like "View New Content" did.
At the end of the posts on each page of a thread, there is a "Quick Reply" dialogue box for typing posts. This box does not have any of the formatting controls. If you want the formatting controls, go to the right side of the bar that says "Quick Reply" and click the "Reply" button. If you have already typed something in the "Quick Reply" box and decide that you want to use formatting, go ahead and just click "Reply". Whatever you have already typed will continue over to the next page, you won't lose it.
Using the "quote" function automatically brings up the reply box with the formatting toolbar. Do try to remember that you need to use the "Quote" control at the TOP right of the post you are quoting, not at the bottom right as you might be accustomed to.
Multi quotes - This forum can do multi quotes.
On the right hand top of every thread is a line of buttons. Click on the gear icon.
In the drop down box that appears, click "Select Post".
Continue this procedure until you come to the last post you want to quote, then click the "Quote" button (UPPER one
). All of the posts you have selected will then appear in a formattable reply box. If you should happen to "Select" a post and then discover that that post is the last one you want to quote, no problem. Just go ahead and click the "Quote" button on that post and all will be well.
If you want to "Like" a post, click the "Thumb Up" icon next to the (upper) "Quote" button. If you later decide that the poster is a plonker, you can click the thumb icon again and your like will be removed. (There's no "Thumb Down" so, if you don't like the post, or the plonker, and you want to express that sentiment, you have to do so in writing. The good thing here is, you can say what you want without fear of sanctions.)
