POSH
Before air-conditioning, cabins on the side of ocean liners facing the sun became unbearably hot. Thus, richer passengers paid a premium to have their tickets on the P&O Line from England to India stamped "Port Out--Starboard Home." So p.o.s.h became a synonym for someone who was upper class.

Thanks for the link, now uploaded to Google Books. I find it handy to read books on the phone, great on the train, boat etc. I ordered a book for my li'l bro to collect on his last visit from Spain. Didn't finish it before he came and snatched it from my hands. So got it for 49p on Google books. A Scots Quair by Lewis Grassic Gibbon. A very good read about a woman's life in NE Scotland, apparently part of A level Scots/English syllabus. Telemachus it's around the area you live.

This is a novel about boats and folks which I quite enjoyed at the time. I gave my copy away to a boater on the L&L as a thankyou after he helped me through a few difficult spots on a windy day. It's on Audible too but I have no idea what that's like.
