No, it's not just about London, kris - and who are you, Jim , a self confessed "shuffler", to make judgments/throw stones?

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Maybe if people were paying a reasonable rate to live in an expensive area it would work better.
Is 1/3 of land based rent costs far too much considering how awful it is to live on a boat?
People are paying £20k+ pa to rent flats. Crazy shit but real.
cc ing is such a ridiculous bargain I am amazed people are idiotic enough to continuously moan about it.
Weird entitlememt problems.
You got a great deal there. Deal with it.

Deal with it. yes a very strange sense of entitlement, to think you might be entitled to somewhere to empty your bins. Or fancy feeling so entitled that you dare to think you might be entitled to access to a working tap. Let alone thinking you might be entitled to being able to empty your elsan in a clean safe environment. Crt can’t have it both ways. They have been taking money from livaboard boaters for years, both mooring fees and liscences. So if they like it or not they have a duty of care to boaters who live on there waterways. I’ve got a feeling this will come in front of a court quite shortly.

Ivthought the figures in the article are for London. Indeed - but I meant the issue itself if not just about London... It is definately a nationwide issue. I think it is a deliberate move to try and create anti livaboard boater sentiment in the general population and among the staff at local councils. A lot of people don’t realise without proof of a local address and payment of council tax it is impossible to use a local refuse site. Not to mention not being able to walk onto any refuse site, so if you don’t have a car your knackered. So with removal of bins what are cc’ers supposed to do with their rubbish?

Caravan Utilising Nomadic Travellers I believe is now the accepted politically correct term. Difference so far being that there is an established pre-existing use of inland waterways for pleasure boating so the facilities are in place. Times do change however and residential waste disposal, water consumption and sewerage makes it a different subject. Shitting for 7 days a week results in about 3.5 times the volume one would produce shitting twice a week. As for living on board I wonder how many people claim NFA on the license application. If you put an address on it then surely it is reasonable for the navigation authority to think you live at that address. I do know they check boat status closely so to an extent I am playing devil's advocate here.
