Firewood dealers refuse orders as fear of running out of fuel sparks shortage. As oil, gas, electricity and coal prices soar, thousands of householders are turning to logs. Firewood suppliers say they are dealing with unprecedented demand for fuel, with the market being driven by spiralling fears of winter fuel shortages among families and pensioners. Firewood processors are struggling to cope with the unprecedented demand and some have even had to close their order books. www.independent.ie/irish-news/ive-never-seen-anything-like-it-firewood-dealers-refuse-orders-as-fear-of-running-out-of-fuel-sparks-shortage-42031501.html So, it's not just Finland. And I think there's a bit more forest in Scandinavia than Ireland. Russia has a lot of forest. But perhaps it's a Good Thing that firewood has run out - Jim doesn't like the 'particulates' floating his way. And John says they cause 'Climate Change' and the destruction of the world.

Thankfully I have a diesel bubble stove and the price of diesel is falling (very slightly) at the moment. A neighbour said to me the other day that she was paying almost 20 quid for a bag of coal and needed 3 per week! - first time since I've owned the boat that I've been glad to have a diesel stove.

Luckily, the price of free pallets from work hasn't risen at all. It might cost me a few pennies more in petrol for the generator to cut up the stretchers and bearers with my circular saw.
