"Some 12,000 Albanian nationals have arrived in Britain in small boats already since the start of 2022 – up from just 50 in 2020" "Residents in a Dover retirement complex have been told to lock their doors after incidents of immigrants trying to gain entrance to people's homes. Dover district council wrote to residents to tell them to take security precautions after a young Albanian walked from the beach into a lone woman's flat and hid in her bedroom this weekend." www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11358583/Rishi-Sunaks-migrant-crisis-headache.html

"Heroes kicked OUT so migrants can be let IN: Lifeboat crew on training course are thrown out of three-star hotel to make way for asylum seekers... as thousands of migrants are put up in FIVE-STAR hotels, with one in four resorts block-booked for MONTHS" www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11383645/Lifeboat-crew-training-course-gets-shown-door-bosses-make-way-asylum-seekers.html"There is a certain irony here which should not be overlooked. After the RNLI trainees have finished their course, what will they do? Why, they'll be collecting even more 'hotel guests' from the Channel! As the saying goes - "You couldn't make it up" - but someone IS making it up - to our cost.."

And which law would that be saying it’s illegal to work 18 hour days?

And which law would that be saying it’s illegal to work 18 hour days? Possibly the Working Time Regulations.
'Daily rest
10.—(1) An adult worker is entitled to a rest period of not less than eleven consecutive hours in each 24-hour period during which he works for his employer.
(2) Subject to paragraph (3), a young worker is entitled to a rest period of not less than twelve consecutive hours in each 24-hour period during which he works for his employer.
(3) The minimum rest period provided for in paragraph (2) may be interrupted in the case of activities involving periods of work that are split up over the day or of short duration. '
Not illegal to work 18 hrs in a day but you must have 11 hours consecutive rest before your next shift except in exceptional circumstances or in some industries and a worker can't opt out of this part of the regulations.

And which law would that be saying it’s illegal to work 18 hour days? There are many jobs where it's illegal to work more than a certain number of hours per day/week/month. Perhaps you just don't care that people need to work 18 hours a day to survive?

It seems likely a lot of the money is going "back home". This is normal for a lot of immigrant populations. Some people move their whole lives here but a lot will retain things like houses and family in country of origin.
Its economics and bound to happen.

I know of no law that prohibits working 18 hour days. Do you? As for having to work long hours, it’s his choice, perhaps, as it did for me, it’ll work out well for him. No doubt as usual, you will ignore the facts of the link you posted.

I know of no law that prohibits working 18 hour days. Do you? Yes - bus drivers, truck drivers, plane drivers, and many factory workers are subject to maximum hours. I also find it hard to believe people work 18 hours/day, with just 6 hours remaining in which to sleep, wash, and eat, and put their clothes on. I very much doubt that all these 'migrants' are coming to the UK with the intention of working 18 hours a day and integrating with the native population (whatever that is these days!). Many want to impose the ways of their own countries on the hapless residents of the UK. Do you think the politicians who represent their constituents should also be putting in 18 hours/day to sort out the country's massive debt?

I take it we aren’t discussing your post about the cafe owner then? As for working 18 hours a day, I did for a couple of years as I said earlier. This enabled my business to take off and led to me being able to retire before I was 50. Swings and roundabouts, good luck to the cafe owner. I guess you and the newspaper would have said ‘well done’ to him had he been a white man. Anyway, I have to go now. I only replied to you as you seem to be talking to yourself here a little to often.

No objection to the business owner working those hours, just hope he follows the law regarding those who he employs.

Its interesting to observe how awful tabloids like the DM are going for the "fear of others" angle just as we are getting into a recession.
Juat yesterday I was in the co-op purchasing some products and an awful woman (yes I judged her) was buying the Daily Mail. The headline was "one in 6 of us was born abroad".
And?
Deal with it. Its not going to change suddenly and one thing I notice living partly in a "full scale invasion" immigrant part of London is they breed fast.
That's just how it is. The sooner people deal with it and stop wingeing the better. It is far too late to stop this happening. It is inevitable.
That Which Is.

I'm only defending the rights of working people whom I believe should have decent hours, pay and conditions. Not sure why you're having a go at me. Is it cos I'm black?

Rail strikes! Now, if only train drivers and guards did 18 hours a day they could retire at the age of 50.
"what are they gaining it just sends the price of fare's up and the cost of living; stop being a stodge for the union bosses who long for power"
