It is COLD out here tonight.
Woke early to find my boat trapped in a layer of ice then glorious sunshine so a few boats moved and broke it up.
Started freezing over again by 4pm.
Not sure if it's my memory failing/the faculties going/just getting old but I don't remember feeling this cold out here for a few years now.
Keep safe, warm and well wherever you are x

Only another 3 months and it'll almost be Summer again. I certainly wouldn't care to be driving anything big in Norway in winter...

Yes, absolutely taters as we Cockneys say. I've been glad of the boss's diesel to keep me warm this week.

Suspect there'll be a fair few shiny boats up for sale again (much like 2007/8) next spring.......

Glad a bought some logs the other week. Don't you have any wood shavings held together with some type of organic binder you could burn?

It's cold.
Maybe small taters as opposed to Cockney (never knew the bells reached Ramsgate already, REALLY??!) or Finnish ones but we are talking about a metal box half sunk in frozen water.
Trust me. I have a fire like that. It is still cold.

Back on the inner city ditch. Obviously as Dulcinea was built to survive a nuclear winter (literally) it is rather warm in here. The fire is LARGE for the cabin size. Got some of the german lignite on it and also some brazier smoke less plus actually a little bit of columbian house coal for the smell.
Last night was spent on the country estate boat and that nice little hand made fire performed very well. I kept it in over night on Homefire. Its only a small fire being of 8 inch box section steel 5mm thick. Nothing particularly large about it but it chucks the heat out and stays in on coal nicely. I was pleasantly surprised as that boat is not amazingly well insulated and does have large windows. It got down to about -5 last night but no issues. The fire is wicked. Did I mention the fire ??
The children are in the flat with the woman where they have GCH. All working and recently serviced by the lovely Tower Hamlets Homes man. Seems okay.
Always good to keep the living quarters warm.
Part of the reason I like small boats rather than big boats.

Cold start to the day, went for water/elsan/rubbish, 4 hr round trip but was quite pleasant wrapped up well, managed to turn the boat and reverse onto the services (saves having to go through a lock, wind, and come straight back up - only possible if no boats moored in the exact positions I need).
Had a kingfisher hitch a ride for about 30 seconds on the way back!
Now about to tuck into homemade Chinese.
Life is good.
21 degrees inside, not going outside to check...
