I don't do Christmas, I'm an atheist. The wider commercial world does so that means there's no work to do which in turn means a week or so just dossing around, which is fine. But I have no tree, no tinsel, no mince pies and I'm provisionally expecting to have poached eggs on Marmite toast for Christmas dinner as the eggs and bread are short-dated and need using up. An excellent brunch for any day of the year but I must confess to being a fan of sprouts - and their lightly steamed tops coated in melted butter and freshly ground pepper....... Have a good day everyone, whatever you choose x Change of plan now as I had poached eggs on Marmite toast today, I am going to have half a tin of Chilli Con Carne with Basmati rice, and I'm going to supplement the CCC with some home-grown chillis which I dried after harvesting but which are currently soaking overnight. Then I might Hoover the boat as it's a special occasion.

How contrary - I treated myself to the curry with basmatii tonight (special occasion - my birthday) and was saving the hoovering (very manky carpet in front of the fire now ) and poached eggs on marmite toast for tomorrow. Saving my dried chilli for something really special.

At around 2am there was a little noise and I became rather excited.
Went back to sleep then when it was light I asked my imaginary friend what it might have been.
"It was probably the rain, dear".

"It's Christmas time - and time for this year's Christmas Song. I figured that if Band Aid could get away with recording the same crap song 3 times and making a mint from it, then there's no reason why I couldn't do the same..."

I will be having gruel and tap water tomorrow then perhaps consider having an apple. What..no beer?😱 I seem to have stumbled and now have some Weston's vintage zzzyder. Oh well we can't all be perfect ! Sitting under the same tree I was when we had the ridiculous heatwave. How long ago that seems to be. Can't really use the floating electric beer drinking platform with 100 tons a second of water flowing down the River.

I rather fear that this year it might be a disappointment 'cos my daughter and her family are supposed to be flying in from New York today but I have yet to find out if their flight has been cancelled. Otherwise we are all booked to have Xmas dinner at the Beetle and Wedge on the banks of the Thames.
I bring you all glad tidings of my family's movements, not that any of you argumentative sods give a damn. Dorter, hubby and 2 irrepressible young sons arrived LHR shortly before midnight on Xmas Eve, having been delayed on the stand at the departure gate for 5 hours while the airport ground maintenance struggled to fill up the domestic water tank on the plane because the contents of the service water tanker was frozen solid ........................ and the B&W Xmas dinner was a great success.

Well Jeff is giving the new air fryer a good workout. Moored at about 2pm and we have already used 102Ah. Never mind plenty more where that came from! He is going to try roasting the tatties in it, we’ll see how that goes. Roast beef done in the gas oven though.

He is going to try roasting the tatties in it, we’ll see how that goes. Roast beef done in the gas oven though. Just got one of those at home, Noreen is experimenting. Decided she needed 3 mesh trivets to fit more layers in. I've just scoffed some mince pies done in it. We have saved the foil cups from shop bought mince pies to use in the air fryer. It does seem effective and economical.
