Anybody using one of these and got a recommendation for a cheapish reasonable model?

That looks alright, I think I’d prefer one which is battery powered.

I cut down a 40ft high pine tree with 8 inch trunk with a 6 inch battery powered chainsaw. Can't recomend it for longevity due to only being used once. I think andrew uses one, maybe contact him via pm.

I did look into it but never bought one.
Stihl all the way for me if I did get one.
Not cheap but they know what to do. The nest one seems to be the MSA 200. It's about £550 though which is partly why I did not get one.
The Ryobi gets good reviews but I think they might be disposable junk.
Stihl MSA 160 is alright but I get the impression the 140 and 120 are a bit E1ton John (Mickey Mouse)

The mad thing about Ryobi is that lots of people express surprise that, despite expecting total crap, their products often tolerate a lot of abuse.

Can't remember the name of mine as is was so rubbish. Left it in a BW bin.... saw it stripped down and the remnants left in the next BW bin several miles along the cut I just whittle away and play with my bowsaw on little branches and leave all the big stuff to the rest..........

Bowsaws are fine as long as you have a good frame and blade.
They do vary.
I have several EIA Edsbyns Industri AG frames (Swedish) and several Tyzack Turner (English) frames. 24,30 and 36 inch. Blades are the most interesting subject as we are getting some crap stuff made of margarine with good brand names. Traditionally JACK, SANDVIK, BAHCO and Bushman have been good blades. Watch the Jack blades as some of the new ones are Chinese margarine. Udebrik are good blades.
Avoid nails and don't get too enthusiastic. I've got scars in my knuckles from going through wood too fast with bowsaws. So like bowsaws !

G-Man is another good quality blade but some old stock items will have a bit of rust which is not ideal.

I try not to over exert myself or get too enthusiastic with a blade but I, too, have noticed the serious deterioration in the quality of the replacements over the last few years.

I bought a few branded "Jack" but it turned out the brand, which was top quality once, was bought by American Tool and they are now junk.
Nothing new under the sun. Fortunately there was an eBay seller doing real old stock Jack blades 36 inch for £3 each so I had "a few of them" they seemed to run out of stock.
Nice blades they are. Hot knife through butter.
