He's a piss taker. A go fund me page was set up for him when one boat was sunk, fuck knows what he did with that money. Another lost cause brought on by ignorance and stubborn behaviour.

Is it about that wooden wreck which sunk and was blamed on a hire boat ?

The restraining order is quite unusual. Although the assault charges where dropped through lack of evidence.

He's obviously not quite the full ticket. Difficult to know what else CRT could do really, if he has refused to licence or move his boat for several years. As somebody pointed out in the comments section, a GoFundMe page was set up when his boat sank and raised thousands of pounds so he could have used that money to get the boat repaired.

It seems to be the sort of case a local council should deal with. Obviously the boats will get taken away and broken up.
That's not a cheap job and will be funded presumably by CRT.
This sort of thing should not take several years to resolve. It should be a month or two and bye bye.

He's very much rational; knowing the boat was beyond practical let alone economical repair he instead wisely spent all the money on beer.

Yes, when I've read comments about the inhuman cruelty of CRT, after they have taken several years to finally Section 8 a boater, I always think "Well, try operating a truck without an Operator's Licence, a named operating centre, a suitably qualified transport manager, full maintenance records at the mandated intervals etc etc etc and see how long you get away with that". And the answer is that the moment DVSA discover that you are not 100% legally compliant, you'll be climbing into the cab just one more time, to get your personal possessions out, then if they are feeling in a good mood they'll point you in the direction of the nearest railway station. Perhaps boats shouldn't need licences. Perhaps you should be able to moor indefinitely wherever you want. But they do and you aren't and until that changes this is the inevitable in action.

The most crazy part is that so many people gave him money. Most probably didn't know him. Oh, the power of the need to virtue signal is so strong in some people!

He got enough to buy a quite credible replacement. Why he chose not to is beyond my comprehension.

Good at making unsubstantiated assumptions, . . aren't you. Your grasp of plain written English is no better, . . . but at least it's on a par with the thick NBTA retained lawyers who have failed to provide this man, and many others, with adequate, purposeful and well directed representation in the past. Try reading Sections 8 and 9 of the British Waterways Act 1983 - carefully and properly - and preferably with the aid of a dictionary and a thesaurus !
