But folks were complaining about boater-generated wood smoke ages ago. A long time before the current mass debate. Some people in massively overpriced shitty new-build flats thrown up next to the canal complain about boater-generated wood smoke from time to time but literally no-one gives a flying fuck about them. You might not give a shit, but some of those complaining live in expensive property in posh little places. The fact is the law has already changed and boats aren’t exempt. You can be prosecuted for burning wet wood and producing to much smoke. Okay the wherewithal to do anything about remains to be seen. But the situation has changed already.

I'm intrigued about the complaints thing. Would the person being complained against ever know? My city slum mooring has been occupied by various of my boats since 2013 (!) and all of the boats have had wood stoves. I'm not aware of any of the flat residents who I don't give a flying fuck about ever complaining. It's possible they do and I just don't get to hear about it. On the other hand someone in one of the flats expressed pleasure at seeing smoke coming out of a chimney on a cold day as it looked homely. I think it's the wankers in Islington town houses near the tunnel who have caused this problem. The area is likely to be populated by well off urban arsehole Grauniad readers. Having said that there are quite a lot of total cunts on boats with no consideration for anyone so it is not a one sided story. Arseholes will be arseholes. It's just the way it is. Who gives a shit what the Guardian contains? Problem being that those who do are probably in positions of influence. That's bad shit.

It’s not that the articles are in the guardian but the regularity of which they publish anti wood burner articles. Maybe somebody who lives in Islington works at the guardian.
