By way as a test of being able to post pictures this is a still grab from some video I have lent to me by someone who worked on Jupiter and Saturn hotel boats. I'm not sure if this video has been available on the web but if not I shall show further grabs but note that I do not have copywrite on these. If anyone knows who might be steering I would be interested to hear. Richard the Bilge rat

Richard the Bilge rat The steerer is Ernie Kendall, the motor is the 'Roger', out of sight on the other end of the snubber is the 'Raymond' being steered by Mrs Rose Bray, and waiting to jump off in the bridgehole with his bike [ to go and get the bottom of Braunston ready ] will be Arthur Bray. There'll be just over 49 ton of DS Nuts on the pair, loaded from Baddesley pit at Atherstone, for the 'Jam Hole' at Southall.

Cheers Tony
I can certainly confirm your identification of the boats. Have you seen this film before ? I was given this by a friend and I think it was shot by Peter Froud(?) but I don't know if it has been on available before.

I was given this by a friend and I think it was shot by Peter Froud(?) but I don't know if it has been on available before. I've not seen the film at all, Richard, but Ernie Kendall and the 'Roger' are very easily recognizable for me in that photo because I worked on that job for a time for Blue Line in the 1960's. The photo/film may well have been taken by Peter Froud, . . . there are what look like two of Michael Streat's little outboard hire boats in the shot, and the pair of boats would have loaded the day before and come from Newbold that morning, so it was probably a Saturday morning, and outside the Rose and Castle at Braunston was one of Froudy's hotel boat change over places. I'm one of probably now a very small number of folk who worked boats to the Jam Hole who are still around, so it was quite a coincidence you posting that photo just when I happened to be on here at the same time.
