There's no loyalty in sport anymore!
I see Andy Robinson has been 'suspended' by Bristol, having signed a contract extension in August.
Did the club really believe they could just walk into the Aviva and be competitive?
How can it have been right to extend his contract three months ago, and also right to dump him now.
I would have thought a close study of Exeter could point a club in the right direction.

As for Mr R's suspension. After losing all 9 of your competitive games in charge since their return into the Aviva, it was no surprise really. The Brizol supporters were baying for blood after their 5th consecutive defeat. As for their return into topflight rugby. In my opinion, I'd have to say no, they weren't prepared for such a big step in playing level, after 7 years in the wilderness. Especially with the wrong man at the helm. Word on the street is that Mr Lancaster is looking for a new managers job in English premiership rugby. Will it be a question of "Watch This Space"?

The question should surely be, could someone else have obtained better results with the existing squad?
Perhaps with Ford the answer would have been yes. There did appear to have been a breakdown between him and the squad, although injuries played a part.
I'm not sure the answer would be yes with Robinson. Apart from the first game the squad hasn't looked competetive in the Aviva. It's a huge leap in class between the championship and the top league, and they weren'/aren't good enough.
Use the money for paying off Robinson and fetching new management in, to strengthen the squad makes more sense to me.

I think the answer to that Rog is....Yes Robinson (as a player), played some decent rugby at Bath during The Glory Years, and as you know, has also been the coach their. I think his ascension to International rugby, may have been a massive step for him. Perhaps a step he didn't have enough experience in. I know he was one of Sir Clive's backroom boys in the world cup. But his CV as head honcho for England & Scotland will need a lot of work. A good player doesn't make a good manager, and I think Mr R falls well and truly into this category.

Well, there's time to see what a change of management can do. He's obviously 'out'.
Could be interesting to see how they go on.
